Ditto Andrew albeit I have 50 EW at 25s on Perfect Power. (Before it's last run) My thoughts at the moment are how many will be scratched.

Nmkt persisting with the official good, good to firm in places, despite a going stick figure from yesterday of 8.2. A year ago, the going stick number was 8.1 on race day, the official going was good to firm and the time was faster than standard.

The year MG won the race the finishing order for the draw was, 17,19,3,1,5, yes indeed, they did call it the golden highway as they came for the nearside rail I recall.

Got that back to front. It should read that I'm more concerned about the going. How long can they go on watering.

15 for Native Trail. Is that good, ok or diabolical? Kameko the outsider won from the same draw. Stablemate Coroebus is drawn 1 - completely opposite side.
Any cutaway again? I remember AOB had several riding shotgun for Saxon Warrior to get a smooth clear passage.

interesting that aiden takes native trail on with point lonsdale again ,recent racecourse work with luxembourg and aiden says theres nothing between them nothing between them on ratings either frankie up and 14/1 available ,

I agree. I think the draw is also fascinating. You have the jolly and PL drawn on the standside and Luxembourg and Coroebus drawn on the outside. The stalls are central. I think the middle is the preferred choice so I think L & C are positiioned better. Setting off tomorrow and can't wait for the first 2 classics of the season.

When Kameko won from a high draw, there was a strong wind (20-25 mph) blowing across the course from far side towards the stands. Those drawn high that day had an advantage as the low drawn runners got the brunt of the wind and they also provided the high drawn ones with shelter from that wind. And the stalls that day were positioned on the stands side, not centre, another plus for the high draw.

For day one, Prosser sticks to his going report of good, good to firm in places, with an overall going stick figure of 7.5.
However, according to the Turftrax going map provided here:
https://www.turftrax.co.uk/going_maps.html
The ‘good to firm places’, extend all the way from the mile start to the dip and only the last two furlongs are shown as good.
Lies, damned lies and going reports.

It's a classic and all we're discussing is the draw advantage.
To me this means the race needs moving to a fairer and more suitable racecourse.
Good luck today all

Proves nothing , first winner was arguably more assertive the further stands side he went and 2/3 of stand side trio in the 7f got left in the boxes . Winner would have won anywhere .

Buick must have thought he was on Dancing Brave given how far back he had the runner up for the first half of the race , especially given the way the horse had been ridden in it's previous five runs / wins

Good race but come on a classic with a draw bias and creating deliberation after the race whether the best horse won on the day.
Should never happen , move it or sort it.
No bet ever in classics myself but don't agree with a draw bias in such a big race.
Good luck today all

I'm not sure. One cannot be certain the fav was on the wrong side given his pilot was not as forward as Doyle on the winner. What I'd say is Appleby/Godolphin ought to have sent either to France.
Will either take on Baaeed over 8f this season? The time was just above standard.

Native Trail was btn by a very good horse today, the best one on the day.Whether the draw had anything to do with is another matter,I would'nt be useing that today.

Having watched the race again Coroebus was even further back than Native Trail most of the way. But, was still cruising when Native Trail made his move; Luxembourg stumbled just after the stall opened and was infront of Caroebus. The front 3 pulled away from the rest at the finish.
I do not think the winner will be beaten by the runner-up, all things being equal. Luxembourg ran a very well given the stumble early on; a very promising prospect for Epsom.

BUICK too cocky (IMHO of course), he knows from previous that the horse does have speed but also it’s not one that the turbo responds immediately on, ridden too far out the back for a horse with that trait.
All the best

The draw probably did play a part but I'm sure you could make up all sorts of scenarios where other horses could have won. Best horse and jockey on the day won. Not sure what track is fit for racing if Newmarket isn't.

Rice is correct. Native Trail all speed and had to be taken on today. Would never have beaten the winner if it had been drawn next to it. How far does Luxembourg win the Derby by. Connections looked delighted with his run in the unsaddling enclosure.

I think you are right Rico. The blue army are slowly (maybe not that slowly) crushing British G1 and classic racing. Coolmore as powerful as they are, cannot stop this total domination that Sheik Mo has bought. Here's a good stat for all the punters....In the last 5 years Godolphin have had about 3000 runners with a strike rate of ......wait for it....25%!!! You can bet them blind.

Coolmore have drunk the well of Vincent O'Brien dry now - the best Northern Dancer sires are no longer theirs. Sheikh Mohammed has waited decades for this.

Well that may well be but in fairness to Coolmore they had to operate in a commercial environment. Darley has just bought any and everything, regardless of value. Its clear they are on top at the moment but there is no guarantee that will last. Coolmore may or may not have the best stallions at the moment (ND or otherwise) but their roster has some pretty smart prospects so the tide may yet turn.

You have to laugh at some posters on here. Coreobus not going for the Derby as trainer has stated that St James Palace next and will keep to a mile . Mile 2 at a push. Luxembourg slowly away nearly falls over and is 2 lengths behind the front two ov r inadequate trip. I will say it again. How far does he win the Derby by?

I agree with A_T. I think they will look for a soft G1 later in the season and tell everyone he would have won the Derby if he had got there. Personally I think they should go for the French Derby but that would give the game away!!

Well what a surprise. AOB had a proper Derby horse and his non staying guineas 3rd get an injury and can't run. You are lucky he did pull it out TYB otherwise you would have been donating to a bookies benefit. I give you more credit than to have taken 2-1 after the guineas, even though you thought he was unbeatable.

I think Ryan Moore and Aidan know slightly more than you. Trial after trial winner for the Ballydoyle boys and you only had to see Moore's response to the question who he thought was best. You are mighty lucky that he is not running. Would have been good to see you running for cover. Are you saying the horse has not got an injury?

Do you think he gets to choose all the time? The anti Ballydoyle bias on here is quite something. Thought they might have been congratulated for their winning exploits and consistency.
