I took a chance with DALILIO in the early hours this morning when I noticed that his Sole win over hurdles which came at Perth last September under this rider was off a mark of 104 and then wasn't too far away next time off 109.

Now running off 91 tonight and after a In a fashion return to form when he was a little keen at Kelso over 2m7f on  good ground 22 days ago he ran on well once settling down to finish 8 lengths third.

If I could turn back time it is not my style to get involved in races were there is a odds-on favourite and I quickly click on my next race to study. My price of 6/1 is now up to 9/1 with the favourite into as low as 1/2 from 11/4 last night..


My thinking in the 8-35 Sandown is that even though SIP AND SMILE ran on over a mile in early May he was still beaten nearly 4 lengths at 11/1 and it took a drop down to 7f to record third win at 7/4f.

TWO TEMPTING escapes a penalty for last week's apprentice handicap win and even though the jockey that day Christian Howarth could of took off 7lbs Rob Hornby jumps back on board..



SUPER LOVER could still be a Lover Lover in the future as he is still a Colt and looks a Good-un in the making and a promising individual who ran very well on his qualifying run when second of nine in a novice event at Windsor just over three weeks ago..

Thanks mh, I went to Paris in 81, about ten of us got there Sunday afternoon for the Wednesday game with no tickets and virtually no money. Two of us booked into a hotel in their Soho, it was called Pigalle and we all piled in after being on the ale.
The fella knew there was loads of us in the room but said nothing and even sent up prostitutes but none of us went with them apart from one lad who was amazed she wouldn't let him kiss her.

We were amazed you didn't pay for drinks straight away and I must admit us young scallies got off without paying and one bar you could even lean over and pour your own.

Me and my mate somehow got into the Real Madrid end and when Barney Rubble scored the winner there was loads of Liverpool all around.

It is now over forty years ago but I remember seeing the Moulin Rouge and after the game three of us had not a bean between us, we got some hot chickens from a street vendor and drinks from a shop and sat in a park.

We slept in Paris North station on a train and bunked home the next day..

Anybody who frowns on your choice of 6/4 to 4/1 odds let them show a 30pts profit over a month with their over 4/1 fancies.
They just end up chasing their losses.

The comps run on here are a classic example.

The 3yr old bay filly CHERRY BLOOM moved stables to Gill Scott in early December and has had six runs at Dundalk and been beaten by today's rival Pandemic Princess twice.

This will be the first turf run for CHERRY BLOOM since the move and hopefully she can take advantage of the 15lb turnaround relative to the first of their four clashes during the winter months.

Best run and winning one was on this ground at Down Royal over 5f but what I like about my 6f fancies is that they also get 7f and I noticed that CB was Prominent over 7f in March pressing the leader and going easily the best until ridden in the final 110yds and was then headed towards the finish .

It all bodes well from stall 2 with her old rival over in the near outside box..

Richard Fahey's FYLDE COAST who ran well over today's 1m2f on this GF ground 17 days ago showed plenty of Zip as a juvenile. Ran Green that day but made a very promising return considering when fourth beaten 2 lengths at Beverley and once the penny dropped stayed on strongly and was nearest at the finish.

Some people may frown at this but you won't see me back a horse above 4/1 anymore, they may drift but all my bets will be Set in Stone 6/4 to 4/1..   I really fancy FOSSOS 2-30 Chepstow and again some people will have the complete opposite view but if the horse was 2/1 I would back it but I will watch it run at 15/2..

I had an old mate who used to say to me, " If you fancied a 6/4 shot you'd put a ton on no messing but if you fancied a 10/1 shot you'd never put a ton on it...

With Mahrajaan not quite ready on debut last season and 11lbs above last win in class 3 company I am looking for CONTACT who still has his tackle intact to confirm the promise of his reappearance when successful over this trip and surface in a decent Newmarket class 2 four weeks ago motoring away some way out and maintaining the gallop to win well with Ben Curtis taking the ride again..

Ben Haslam's 3yr old bay filly ORIGINTRAIL who is partly owned by Helen Shapiro's nephew has improved with each of her three runs and then topped it all when making all in a Ripon maiden over today's distance just over three weeks ago.
I can see the same dance today getting out fast from stall 3 and I will be walking back to happiness with Andrew Mullen taking over from Paul Mulrennan who is going camping for the weekend and is not back to Monday..

If you back a drifter & it loses you blame yourself for backing it.

PP caught my eye when watching my winner Sisterandbrother a few weeks ago and was put in my Big Black Book and in Red Pen I wrote BACK WHEN DROPPED TO A MILE. That day tonight's fancy went three lengths ahead but was ridden over 2f out and then was headed and lost two places inside the final furlong and even lost third until weakened inside final 110yds.

I look out for horses losing places in the final furlong and then dropped in distance soon after and last time out was noted going best at the mile mark..

Terrible ride but that's racing..

After reaching 33.86pts profit I then ended this thread while I went to my brother's to help build an extension and then go on holiday. A local builder had let them down and kept them waiting for over 18 months. He even kept 3k which they have got back and unbelievable at first he said he hadn't had.

I have had a losing spell while in Cheltenham, I shouldn't of picked them but we learn from making mistakes and there are no excuses because if I had made a profit I would of claimed it and in a way I have learned a lesson, it just happens and because I have years of records I can see where I went astray..

A 9/4 winner last time, one fell and I think five finished 2nd.. Far far too many bets.. Back to Basics..

Only one today.. I printed off piles of my records and while all around people were reading holiday books I was looking into why so many horses who after a good run and near miss cannot win next time out when raised just 2lbs.

I have ended threads on here when I have been 105pts, 90pts,  43pts , 33pts up and many more including loads of losing threads. From July I am going to keep a year long thread so I can see Month on Month results using all my hopefully winning methods put together..

The 5yr old chestnut gelding ANGLO SAXSON returns to the scene of his only win two years ago over 7f on today's ground of Good to Firm and is now 19lbs lower from that sunny day back in July 2020. The son of Starspangledbanner has gone off favourite in both of his two runs for his new yard of Patrick Owens and is back from a tour of Ireland were it looks the sole purpose of his visit was to get his mark down from 75 to 52 and on his last run in The Emerald Isle he was 50/1 with his first run back in Blighty 15/8f.. The visor is reached for as they say..
