How can I forget Long Run? This is clearly a case of wealth prolonging retirement.
Anmazing result. Just shows he can still ride if you put him on the right one. I had a brief hope for Fiddlerontheroof but he could never quite get on terms.

Seven races round Aintree, Gold Cup and King George. Not many professional do that.
No BSP is a disaster. It reflects the collective view of us as Exchange punters and can't possibly be **** like the Industry price can.

For once the bookies were not hit with the late gamble and they didn't notice the drop in BSP presumably.
iirc Sam also helped patch up Kate & William's relationship at an early stage, though there is no reference to it on his Wikipedia page so probably I've mixed him up with someone else.

Didn't realise until now that I saw his cousin Tamsin Waley-Cohen playing solo violin at Nottingham Concert Hall last night.
Many congratulations to him - A Gold Cup, a King George, and a Grand National. What a career for an amateur!

LONGHOUSE POET (IRE) wore earplugs in the parade ring which were removed before going to the start
and NOBLE **** (IRE) wore earplugs which were removed at the start.
Permission was given for NOBLE **** (IRE) to go early to post and to be mounted in the chute, for
TWO FOR GOLD (IRE) to wear a red hood to the start, be mounted in the chute and to go early to post,
for GOOD BOY BOBBY (IRE) to wear a red hood to post and for SNOW LEOPARDESS to go early to post.
Mr Sam Waley-Cohen, the rider of the winner, NOBLE **** (IRE), was suspended for 9 days and fined
£400, for using his whip above the permitted level from after jumping the last fence and in the incorrect
place on the run to the line.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that CLOTH CAP (IRE), which was pulled up, bled from
the nose, COKO BEACH (FR), placed eighth, lost its left-hind shoe.

He can politely ask the Stewards what they are going to do about it. 6 month ban. Fine sir, sorry sir. Just going back to my day job. Upton House in Warwickshire which their ancestor left to the National Trust in 1948 is well worth a visit.
Last time I backed him he went the wrong way at Fakenham........

Recent big-money purchase with a view to running in the Grand National
Emmet Mullins didn’t hang around getting Noble **** over fences with the gelding having just five runs (one point to point, three bumpers and one run over hurdles) before winning his first start over fences as a six-year-old.
Mullins obviously didn’t want to waste any time with the gelding’s chasing career as he sent him into a handicap on just his third start over fences. Noble **** finished 6th on that handicap debut and then was pushed straight into the 100k Paddy Power Handicap Chase at Leopardstown over Xmas. Considering his inexperience, Noble **** ran well to finish ninth behind School Boy Hours.
A couple of runs later and Mullins decided to send his charge over to England to contest the Grade Two Towton Novice Chase at Wetherby. Again, Noble **** put in a good effort to finish second to Lucinda Russell’s progressive young chaser, Ahoy Senor.
After the run at Wetherby, the gelding was purchased by Robert Waley-Cohen to be ridden by his son, Sam, in the Grand National. The Waley-Cohen’s have a terrific record over the Aintree fences having finished second and fourth with Oscar Time (who also won a Becher Chase) and also with the likes of Warne, Libertine and Rajdhani Express.
Sam Waley-Cohen’s prowess over the Aintree fences will ensure Noble **** will be well backed in the National but for a young horse with so little racing experience, he looks more likely to be a major player next year and in the years to come rather than in 2022.
