Saturday picks
It’s worth noting I previously was tipping on the Tipster league as The Don, but they changed the rules this season with no staking plan or each way so I’ve lost interest in that as I bet a lot each way. Anyway, a useful bit of information from Tipster League is that Leopardstown is my worst track in the whole of the uk and Ireland, so I’m bracing myself for a poor weekend. It says I’m -16.64 points at the track! 1.05 Leopardstown Hollow Games 2 points win @3.95 betfair exchange (nb) 1.29 Musselburgh Bardenstown 1 point win @1.73 Hills 1.35 Leopardstown Vauban 1 point win @2.82 betfair exchange Without fav 1 point win @1.73 skybet 1.50 Sandown Song for someone - top two finish , 2 points @1.8 bet365 2.10 Leopardstown Saint Sam 1 point ew 9/2 skybet 2.20 Sandown L’homme Presse 2 points win @1.92 betfair exchange 2.30 Wetherby Saint Palais Without fav 2 points @1.66 bet365 2.40 Musselburgh Fiveandtwenty 0.5 points ew @5/1 skybet 4 places 2.45 Leopardstown Unexpected Depth 0.5 points ew @14/1 skybet 7 places Panda Boy 0.5 points ew 5/1 skybet 7 places 2.55 Sandown Garo de Juilley 66/1 0.25 points ew Dolphin Square 14/1 0.5 points ew both skybet 7 places Call me Lord @9.68 boosted 0.5 points ew Hills 3.15 Leopardstown Janidil 0.5 points ew 11/1 skybet 4 places 3.30 Sandown Deise aba 1 point ew 10/1 betfair sportsbook 3.50 Leopardstown A wave by the sea (nap) 2 points ew 7/1 skybet 4 places I’ll play various small stakes multiples for fun aswell Just for clarity after yesterday, not all these bets were placed in the last hour, some were as long ago as Wednesday night. I wish there was a tipster website that allows BSP bets. I hate it when I have a 18/1 long shot that's 10/1 at bookies.
|
By:
40p rule 4 to be recalculated on todays win tbf
|
By:
Do you back everything win only then Gaze? Or just use the betfair place market?
I normally only bet win only for 7/2 or shorter. Then once a year at the Cheltenham festival when I up my stakes I’m more inclined to do ew with bookies and win and place on the exchange. I just find it frustrating if my horse comes 5th and I can get enhanced place terms with the likes of skybet. And the liquidity is poor if 5 or 6 places are offered on the exchange. |
By:
I rarely use the place market, place odds below 4.0 are a waste of time. Whenever I risk 1 pt in the win market and 3 in the place market, the horse doesn't place and I'm down 4 pts instead of 1.
|
By:
Hugh Taylor also never bets each way, even if he has a 40/1 shot.

As someone who don’t follow the flat, I started paying quite a decent one I found on Twitter last summer so I could have a dabble.
His selections were also win only. The dabble didn’t work despite profit…. I still hate the flat! |
By:
How can you hate the flat? Nobody falls and you have the most robust statistics.

By:
You don’t get old favourites that come back year after year like the jumps.

I was wondering if tipsters like yourself actually only bet the few horses you recommend for the day or if you privately have much more bets.
I'm also a tipster but I can't just post 2-3 bets a day when I see value on at least 10 horses. If you're good enough, there's value in every single race. |

It’s normally a quality thing for me, I concentrate on the better class of racing and will have more selections on a Saturday when it’s higher quality tbh. I’m more familiar with those horses, have build up more information on them and can trust what I’m looking for in the form a bit more.
I’m only really putting up singles, but have been doing some ew doubles and trebles most days if the prices allow and have made some lovely ew placed returns in the last month relatively speaking as I’m still quite small staking. Time is a big issue and I’d rather concentrate on analysis of a previous race nowadays than watch some dross on sky sports racing and waste the day watching class 5’s. I’ll watch all the big meetings in full, but take Monday for instance, I was going through the Leopardstown replays and working out sectionals, and due to getting abit behind, I spent yesterday looking at racing all the way back on the 29th from Cheltenham where I now hopefully will have an edge on the basic form book that many would use. I spent far to many years looking forward, going through form on an upcoming race, rather than spending that time more productively like I do now working out that horse won. I’m quite guarded to what I look at in the form book as I have many different angles and have a rough idea what’s going to get backed, and what will drift as the strange angles I look at could become the new way where everyone is doing it, and then the edge on price is lost. Every decent meeting for me is all a build up in getting as much information as possible in my notes before the Cheltenham festival, especially the first two days on the old course where I traditionally do best. I find it harder to win much on the last two days of the festival and must of lost about 25% of my March winnings at Aintree last April, but then won it all back at Fairyhouse. We are at a difficult faze of the season where many horses are just out for prep runs so I’ll be happy just breaking even until day 1 of Cheltenham, knowing I have a vast amount of information to hopefully get it front. Sorry for the waffle, now to start going through Thursdays card while watching the better quality stuff today. |

Kcc 4/1 now
I can’t believe it as it’s leg fell off ?? I fancy if to place at meeting ffs let alone run in this 4 runner Micky mouse race Should get a lead Should be unbeaten this season imo lost to races not going up the rail |

EB1, considering your Cheltenham research, have you identified any anti-post bets for yourself or would you rather wait for the day?
