you forget your system , lightly raced eight year olds running for top trainers never lose
Report Gaze733 January 25, 2022 4:26 PM GMT
I didn't check one more filter which made him a hoper. But still, I thought third favs never win.
Report Gaze733 January 25, 2022 4:31 PM GMT
This is generally how lays are, a horse needs to check all lay boxes, otherwise it's unlayable. This is why I'm fascinated by the fact that there is a layer for every single horse on the card.
Report howard January 25, 2022 4:37 PM GMT
Even Secretariat was layable 4 or 5 times ydc
Report Gaze733 January 25, 2022 4:43 PM GMT
You know why there are almost no lay services on the market? Because laying is harder than backing.
Report Gaze733 January 25, 2022 4:47 PM GMT
It's easier to win 25% of the time at average odds 5.0 than to win 85% of the time backing the field at 1.25.
Report The Management January 25, 2022 4:51 PM GMT
Laying is backing - you numpty!

There are less lay services because people don't like backing at long odds-on (which is what you are doing when you lay - particularly if you only lay one in a race).

You are (metaphorically) dancing a jig round the garden (on here) when you lay-tip a 5/2 loser - but that the equivalent on betting a 2/5 winner!

I could give you a 5/1 loser Monday to Friday, you would say you have won 5 points Laugh

You have won one point - to £100 returns you have risked 5 x £500 (£2,500) to win just £500 (5 x £100).

The next one goes in and you're back to square one! - but you have convinced yourself you are up 5 points!

It's why you think you are winning - when we both know that (long term) you are not!
Report Gaze733 January 25, 2022 5:04 PM GMT
Imagine a 15 runner field. I like a 10/1 shot because I think its true odds are 4/1, so I back it, there is no reason to lay anything, it would just increase liability, and as luck would have it, my 10/1 shot would finish second behind the lay.

People would have no problem with a high-quality lay service, but there is none that I know of. I don't count the ones that rely on progression-staking gimmicks.

If someone offered a service hitting 85% by laying 3/1 shots, people would be interested in such consistent profits.

The point is, picking 5 x 5/1 losers is (mathematically) a piece of cake - a blind man with a pin will manage it regularly  - but you do it once and you think your are the New Messiah!

Your frequency of win has convinced you that you are winning - but winning much more often that you lose is just par for the course if you are laying (backing at long odds-on).

So you see, There is no need to start a thread every time you back a 1/5 winner! Cry
Report Gaze733 January 25, 2022 5:10 PM GMT
The actual reason people don't like backing odds like 1.25 is because nobody providing such selections finds value.

Find me a guy who backs football favorites at 1.25 at 85% with a sample size of 500 and I'll subscribe. But there is nobody like that.
Report Gaze733 January 25, 2022 5:12 PM GMT
Same for tennis, in 10 years I've never seen anyone make a profit backing below 1.4. But if there was someone like that, people would be interested.
Report Gaze733 January 25, 2022 5:15 PM GMT
tanglefoot 85% by laying 3/1 shots is not good enough for you? You must be a lay god hitting 90% at those odds.
Report The Management January 25, 2022 5:18 PM GMT
Your fixation with tipsters speaks volumes.

You can't do it yourself (make money), so you're constantly looking for somebody that can. You are too lazy to do the work, so you are looking for a miracle shortcut (what you call a system). You are a tipsters dream.
Report Gaze733 January 25, 2022 5:18 PM GMT
Yes, I'm too lazy working 10-12 hours a day 7 days a week.
Report The Management January 25, 2022 5:30 PM GMT
You might as well be in your back garden repeatedly digging a hole and then filling it back in again - rather than spending 10 hours a day applying back-fitted filters onto spreadsheets and pretending they are systems!

The past is important - but the way you are utilising it/approaching it is pointless unless you get that time travel machine working pretty damn quick.

Underestimate the BAILEY at your peril....  lots of people KNEW 10 minutes before the off and expected an improved performance. People like GAZE are why this forum is dead unlike how it was a decade ago.  Keep up the good work  (:

^ dumb post, I've posted my bets a hundred times.

TM you're right, I shouldn't have backed Tribal Commander at BSP 20, Split Elevens at BSP 21, and Galloping Bear at 13, my bad. My silly systems just got lucky.
Report Gaze733 January 25, 2022 5:46 PM GMT
People like me are why the forum is dead? If I didn't post, the traffic would drop by 50%.

Have a look at your thread title, have a look at your opening post.

What value do you think you are adding - you're just the latest immature clown in a long line of them - sometimes less is more.

With your stakes even on a bonanza week your profit would be trebled for working half the hours by stacking shelves at Tesco.
