i love the irish racing but their jockeys seem to suffer many more bad falls/injuries than their counterparts here

Cheltenham Gold Cup-winning rider Jack Kennedy suffered a suspected broken arm in a fall at Navan.

Kennedy went to hospital for X-rays after Wide Receiver fell two out in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Beginners Chase on Sunday. It is the latest of a succession of injuries Kennedy has suffered throughout his career, in which he has nonetheless won many of the top races on either side of the Irish Sea — including this year’s Gold Cup, on Minella Indo.

Wide Receiver, who was disputing the lead when falling, suffered a fatal injury.

Gordon Elliott, for whom Elliott rides as stable jockey, said: “Unfortunately it looks like Jack has broken his arm again. He’s on his way to Blanchardstown (Connolly Hospital) with a suspected broken arm. He’s very sore and upset, so my heart goes out to him.

“Jack is an incredible talent, and we’re behind him 100 per cent. All these good horses will be here for him when he comes back. Whenever Jack makes it back, we’ll be here for him — and so will all the horses.”

Jack reminds me of Adrian Maguire, both very talented but plagued by injuries

Broken arm. Who gives a fcuk. Any jockey knows the risk when mounting an animal to race

The horse lost its life. Far far worse and an act that will slowly and surely seal the end of jump racing within 10-20 years.

Let’s not lose sight here. The humans have a choice to race. The animals do not.

Similar bad luck as Bryan Cooper a few years back which ultimately cost him the Giggy job,just goes with the territory I suppose.

There's very few that escape a bad run of injuries.

Makes it all the more remarkable as to why the stuntman continuously jumped off dozens of odds on shots for financial gain. Greed and all that...

Gagan rode a horse called Kickahead, trained by Ian Williams, in a selling hurdle, and plotted with Elliott Cooper – who had been warned off by the BHA a month earlier for selling inside information – and Stuart Trevaskis, who runs a betting shop in Cumbria, to lay Kickahead on the **** betting exchange.

An account operated by Trevaskis staked nearly £26,000 to win £6,789 if Kickahead, who was expected to start favourite, did not come home in front.

In the event Gagan did not leave anything to chance. Kickahead cleared the fourth flight of hurdles flawlessly but shortly afterwards made an abrupt exit from the saddle stage right while Kickahead galloped on towards the fifth. As the Racing Post’s race-reader drily put it: “Took keen hold, held up and behind, jumped hurdle fine but unseated rider 4th.”

Kennedy has a dislocated shoulder and not a broken arm,while it's no picnic it's a less serious injury.
