How did the times stack up today against standard? Looked pretty wet out there to me. Move the Arc, move champions day. Start in earnest in April! 2nd year in a row of plodders day.

So horses that prefer cut will be denied the chance to shine? Why?

My point is to bring it forward, to give it a better chance to be run on good or good to soft.... and not soft-heavy.

However you couch it, the fastest horses (even in the staying divisions), that give the public the biggest thrill, do not come to the fore in these conditions.

We completely waste April. Prone to showers of course, in recent years it's been pretty hot. Why go beginning May-Nov for anything significant when you can go April-October?

Baaeed's unbeaten and a top class animal.

Agree Penzance, and actually think he's probably better on faster ground given what he did in the Sir Henry Cecil. Almost put a disclaimer where that one is concerned.

Not sure about bringing the racing calendar forward. there are so many things to consider.
1. Going can be heavy at any time of year. Heavy rain in August is highly likely these days.
2. The NH season only has a relatively short window now with the big meetings mostly in November, March and April so they would be squeezed out if there was more Grade 1 flat racing in April.
3. The recent plethora of 2yo races shows that trainers find it hard enough to get that generation ready to run by October as it is and many young horses would be denied a run until they were 3yo and would not be ready for the big 3yo races either.
4. We would be out of step with other countries. I can't see Ireland wanting to follow suit.
