Of course you can, dearie, but if you do want an informed debate on the noble art, perhaps the tiddlywinks forum is not the ideal location.

Not to burst your bubble but Ali would have toyed with him for maybe 8 rounds until Tyson was worn out and then delivered the killer blows.

Funnily enough, if you watch the link, Ali took Sugar Ray on as an 'adviser' when he first fought for the world title and showed his respect for him after he beat Sonny Liston the first time.

Robinson lost too many fights to be the GOAT imo. But he shouldnt have been allowed to get into the ring against the likes of Liston.

Hagler would be my choice, and if we are talking heavyweights, i'd go for Joe Louis but its practically impossible to call.

The problem is that few are willing to go back to the 40s and fifties when it was all about the middleweight division at it's peak and where all the crowds and money were. Robinson had over two hundred professional fights as seen in the link.

Any other boxer one knows about who did that?

My earliest memory in life was listening to our radio in 1951 when Randolph Turpin defeated Robinson to win the World title at Harringay Arena. As for pound for pound fighters that would be far too difficult to say.

sparrow, as seen in my link Robinson had a bad cut above his eye. It went the full 15 rounds and Turpin won on points due to Robinson having too many Parisian late nights but was shrewd enough to have written in the contract that if beat the re-match had to take place within 60 days.

Robinson destroyed Turpin in the re-match.

A good lawyer will tell you "Never ask a question you do not know the answer to" Respect enough to some or the posters but even stewyb seems to miss the point of his own question i.e lb for lb.

Many moons ago most who understood the sport agreed that Ken Buchanan fitted the bill, including many pro's.Since Ken there can be few if any who could match Marvellous Marvin?
