... as some of you know I have a share in Cashew, an honourable 5th in the nursery at HQ today. RM came back and gave a long debrief (headed by "she is too honest"... not a bad fault tbh!). You'd have thought he was talking about a Group filly and suggesting which classic we go for. Made 3 or 4 suggestions. Nice as pie and enthusiastic. Amazingly , he remembered riding her when she won at Windsor on May 17th. I appreciate he comes over as morose and I've thought that myself tbh. But he is as a decent bloke with connections. Just a bit shy in public I suspect. Anyway, after 9 runs (!!!! shades of Spindrifter...well not quite) and £40k in prize money, she now is due a break......though there was a brief mention of the Bosra Sham Listed at the last meeting at HQ if she was ok....bit of the fabled  Black Type would help. Good luck too all.

sorry i misnterpreted your comment windsor. yes PK trained. I posted a laborious drunken thing a few weeks back detailing the reason why DP was so important at the time it won the Schweppes

exactly so. She won with her ears just above ground at Windsor and it was soft at Haydock. Interesting pedigree as Bated Breath is fast ground. The damsire gives stamina and soft. I think she is a decent blend of both. Look, it's great fun having a 9 times runner as a 2yo which has won twice and picked up prize money in each race. I'd love her to run in the Listed race.Point and shoot. Soft ground, they can all catch up if they can. Who knows. 4 horses in last 6 years rated 80-ish have been placed in that race. The dream goes on!

for sure DP. Given that she's a 2yr old and only 6lbs higher than her initial mark, she could be a fair bit better than 83 given her optimum conditions. Fingers crossed.

there is an interesting (not real) dispute between Colin Keane and Ryan/trainer. The former says 6f max and possibly 5. The latter think 7f (though RM was withdrawing a little from that today). I favour the former and would LOVE  to see her blasted from the gates over 5 on soft. We'll see. Given she has little scope for development I think  CK's view may prevail in time as stronger horses overtake her at 3yo.

interesting one. from the VR my gut is that she's not an out and out speedball 5f specialist. she saw out the 6f at windsor really well on heavy ground and found when the 2nd joined her. As a 2 year old I think all the evidence is 6f on soft. But given that she sees out 6 in that ground I'd have thought 7f is plenty achievable as a 3yr old, especially on good ground, and despite the scope angle.
