I withdrew every penny in my account yesterday and when opening my account today my balance is £145.71p. What could have caused this and what part of my account would enable me to find out where the money came from?

Nearly 3 hours between these two statements. Could the race have been voided?

Similar scenario here, stewarty.

The exact same amount as well, £145.71p, has suddenly appeared in my account.

Could be a million reasons stewarty with the amount of mistakes made on the greyhounds these days with betfair. I don't think they know what they're doing half the time.

If that's the case sparrow, surely if I had backed the winner I would have owed BF money? (I'm only guessing here)

stewarty, I have no idea what you mean by backing the winner and owing betfair money.

Just like a horse race sparrow. If the 2:30 goes of at 2:29:40 all bets are void.

I thought horse races weren't void anymore for going off early?

Your correct dave they are not void.

Wouldn’t surprise me if.they didn’t take it back in the near future.a couple of weeks back I had an under over goal acca on the football.I was waiting on 2 matches for a goal still when my balance suddenly shot up,I assumed goals had been scored but nothing on flash score confirmed it.because the bet was settled as a winner the cash out facility was obviously nullified.20 mins after ft the money was taken back,I’m sure I’d have had cause for compensation but just couldn’t face spending an hour txting some idiot explaining the situation.makes me wonder what would have happened if I’d made a sharp withdrawal though,it was a decent 4 figure amount

If a bank put money in your bank by mistake, would you expect to keep it, be compensated?

I doubt either would happen. You will never eliminate human error, it shouldn't happen but you need to be realistic imho
By:

I didn’t want money compensated for the mistake of money in my a/c,I my point was about compensation because the option of a cash out was taken away from me.

When: 21 Sep 21 11:43
I suppose, it still all follows from the original mistake. Still couldn't see that happening either though but apologies for misunderstanding your post.

BARROWBOY, if you had withdrawn the money it would've appeared in your bank. All good until you want to bet again and find balance is -£1XXX !

The latest correction I've had recently was 1 week, and I think that's a new record.
By:

No problem, the mistake was Betfair s though,& at that stage I might well have taken at least part of the £200/£300 that would have been offered if they hadn’t taken the bet off the screen.

i did an avb bet once....my horse was withdrawn ....they had it as a loser....think it was 15 quid.....thought it is bound to correct itself...never did...the thought of trying to get it back wasn't worth it

That is frustrating. I'm sure if you can waste an hour or more of your life on live chat you might get a free £10 bet!

I agree with that 100% - but unfortunately it's also that kind of attitude that leads to a massive increase in the number of "mistakes" made and it also probably gives them the (completely wrong) impression that their customer service offering is adequate.

That is the kind of experience that makes me question their integrity - it implies that:

a) Without any contact their errors will just stand and your money has gone.
b) You have no way of knowing where it has gone - has your counterparty (wrongly) been paid your money? - What's to say they haven't (quite rightly) voided his bet and just kept your money because you didn't contact them?

Secondly and just as worryingly it implies:

a) That nobody else has contacted them to get the error corrected - unless you were the only person involved in that market (which seems very unlikely)
OR
b) Which seems much more likely - That somebody else has contacted them about the error - but they have only corrected the error for that individual and not the entire market.

At a guess there must have been a few punters happy today when they saw their balance. As for those who backed the winner surely BF would take the money back off them?

I know it's crazy - but imagine a world where you didn't have to guess wtf they have done with your money and your account balance.

Imagine a world where when they fecked something up, they published an apology and a concise but accurate update in the service announcements, so that everybody knew what was going on.

Then finally, imagine a world where there was a server that was actually large enough to store all of those service announcements LaughLaughLaugh

Funny thing is, TM, if they were made to do what you suggest, they would inevitably get better at their jobs overnight, because they wouldn't want to be the subject of the next explanation!  For too long, too many people on BF's payroll have either been incompetent or plain and simple just haven't given a 5hit.

Hi Lata - hope you're well mate.

Yes - improved service and less mistakes would definitely be the outcome. Manager looks at the Service Announcements for the day, asks who's responsible for them needing to be published and has a "friendly word". Hopefully after about day three the word they are having gets a bit less friendly!

I'm pretty sure they could do away with half their chat-bot operators if they got things right first time - or better still with less "issues" to resolve they could revert to a customer service offering that works!

Would be better if they had a free phone number for their customer services. No matter what package you are on you still get charged plenty given the number starts with 0344.

BARROWBOY, I'd be fairly confident you may get some satisfaction with a letter to the CEO's dept. Provided you pay chunks in commission every week, I think they have some leeway to compensate.

FWIW I complained about the customer services several years back. I eventually cot a call back and the chap offered me a free £10 bet. I told him to look at my records and he increased it to £25, on the Sportsbook...

i had £600 debited from my account 3 days after a race at gulfstream. i laid something slow away at 2/1 and backed it i/r at 8 so didnt mind when it won. my back was then voided but the lay was allowed to stand. i tried 'live'(sic) chat who told me there was a stewrds(after 3 days?) but there wasnt.

the idiot then said it might have been the off time, but couldnt confirm this, merely prattling about the race being settled correctly, if 'a bit late'. i explained my lay bet was put in watching lv, so was clearly placed i/r, and shouldnt be allowed to stand if by back wasnt. no good. love to get me hands on that bollox corcoran

All good, thanks, TM, albeit not doing much punting - and certainly not getting much matched when I do try!  Hope all's well with you, too?!

Yeah, it's almost as if they don't want to improve, isn't it!?
