Not sure who trained Anselmo , but I think it ended up going hurdling.

Anselmo on the day trained by Keith Piggott. I think he had been taken from Paddy Prendergast some time before the Derby
Report sparrow September 4, 2021 9:11 PM BST
I wouldn't have known that no -won, but on checking the horse was sold out of the Prendergast stable a week before the Derby.

Yes I remember the race I was a lad and had 2bob on Oncidium, big money when you're on pocket money. It was the fact that the year before Lester's dad won the Grand National with Ayala and that's what never left my memory.

Yes Ayala owned by Paul Raymond Mr Teasy Weasy. I think I backed Hotroy in the 64 Derby as I was a big fan of the Nightingale stable.

I remember very well the day that Anselmo ran in his 1st hurdle.I went down to the local bookies to back him and I took 3/1 which I thought was a good price for such a classy animal. I went back home to watch the race on the telly and by the time they were off, Anselmo had drifted to 14/1 and I thought he had no chance, but with the great Johnny Haine up, he flew the last and bolted up.
