One of those where I was expecting there to be words after the line, but no, Dougie seemed quite happy with life. Unless he waited until they got back to the weighing room

The irony is that Dougie himself could get a ban because he switched sharply left causing one or two behind to snatch up.

It looked a pretty cynical move by James, so you could argue "dangerous" riding, but doubt the stewards would have the bottle.

I saw them coming back towards the paddock exit and all looked fine, but you're right James, just had a look back and they did have a few words.

Two day ban for what appeared to be a blatant manoeuvre to take an opponent's ground.

An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference turning out of the home bend when the winner, DARK DEFENDER, ridden by Sam James, interfered with ZUMURUD (IRE), placed second, ridden by Dougie Costello, which in turn interfered with Jason Hart, the rider of OSO RAPIDO (IRE), placed eighth. The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved DARK DEFENDER’s placing as DARK DEFENDER was always holding ZUMURUD (IRE) and the momentum lost was less than the winning margin of ¾ length. James was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he had manoeuvred right-handed towards the rail when insufficiently clear of ZUMURUD (IRE), which in turn caused Hart to take a precautionary check.
