Sally Ann ... "How did you feel when you hit that rising ground?"

Back to Ireland with her .... and why is she at Goodwood in the first place?

The habit of constantly pointing out people’s faults is most likely a reflection of what you’ve struggle with in childhood.

It is a manifestation of an insecurity about the very things that you judge other people for most often.

Some people who have difficulty taking responsibility for their own actions have a tendency to project onto others that with which they struggle.

In fact, the avoidance of responsibility and a difficulty apologizing to people you’ve hurt are the trademarks of the constant fault finder.

Perhaps Hollie was referring to - how the ground was - 'riding' - and Not 'rising' ground. - penzance.

In all my years of following Flat Racing - I have Never heard anybody refer to - "Rising ground" (in the closing stages of the straight - as IMPLICATED by Sally Ann)  - and I have visited the Racecourse several times, too.

from Timeform Racehorses Annuals of decades ago ...

'The Goodwood track consists of a nearly straight 6 furlongs - witha triangular right-handed loop circuit....
(Plenty about the Cup course and distance races etc ) - Then ...

'... the pronounced downhill gradients  from the turn make Goodwood  essentially a sharp track favouring the active, handy, fluent mover, rather than the big long-striding horse.... particularly in Sprints.
The 5 furlong course is one of the fastest in the country.

Horses-in-Training - Raceform Annuals etc - All say the same.

Fairplay workrider - as you know I've expressed my dislike for Irish racing, and I don't apologise for that view.

I would never be anti any nationality for no reason (I'm English, but I live in Wales and am married to a welsh woman, my kids identify as Welsh), but I totally disagree with those who these days think that supporting a nation, or even knocking another nation (within reason), makes one a racist. Sport itself is founded on nationalities competing, so it's a natural effect of that, or else we should probably stop national competitions in all sport as it is too racist as a concept.

DEFEND this incomprehensible (lack of) 'Logic'... if you can

Niall Cronin, the IHRB communications officer, subsequently said of Tuesday's incident:

'We had to disqualify something'

On the question of why ALIZARINE wasn't declared a non-runner and Rule 4 deductions implemented, Cronin said:

"Having considered all the evidence, the stewards upheld the objection that was made. As the horse ALIZARINE did not run in the race, that horse was deemed to be unplaced under rule 266, and the horse purported to be Alizarine was disqualified.

Pressed on the fact that Alizarine never took part, so couldn't win and should have been declared a non-runner, similar to a horse who didn't enter the stalls, he added:

"No, because a horse ran, so for Twinkle to be promoted, we had to disqualify something. It's not straightforward. Alizarine could not win the race, but Aurora Princess was unknowingly tacked up as the wrong horse."
------------

WHAT ?

The whole impetus appears to be ..... "We had to disqualify SOMETHING"  ...

  - on what BASIS ?    ...

Had they simply DEEMED ALIZARINE a NON-RUNNER  (as she/THAT horse CLEARLY actually was - being still stood in her Box) ... Then there would have  been -  NO NEED to "Disqualify"  anything

They might as well have said ...

The Racecourse Cat strolled across the course inside the final furlong - so we have Disqualified it ... SO THAT WE could Promote TWINKLE to be the Winner.
---------------

ALSO - How can a Horse that - "did NOT RUN" - THEN - be "deemed to be UNPLACED"

QUOTE = As the horse ALIZARINE did not run in the race, that horse was deemed to be unplaced

Talk about CONTRADICTING YOURSELF !
-------------------

"We had to Disqualify SOMETHING"

Have you ever read such irrational 'Logic' - or such a silly statement.

Is it any wonder that the Irish 'Logic' exasperates most of the rest of the world... yet they are so stubbornly dogmatic with it, too. Sad

That is what irks people.

People all using this new daft word "woke" makes you think they were all American and not English at all!

What are the origins of woke?
Once upon a time, it simply meant the past participle of ‘wake’. While that has rapidly changed in recent years, the modern definition of the word isn’t that new in the US.

In 1962 the New York Times published an article of “phrases and words you might hear today in Harlem”, a neighbourhood in the northern section of the New York City where many African-Americans live.
