Oli Harris, chief marketing officer, Racing League said: “It’s a huge thrill for us to work with the talent that Sky Sports Racing has at its disposal. In Alex, Josh and Leonna we have three people that represent what Racing League is all about. David Lloyd and Michael Holding are legends of the sporting world and add something to our coverage that no one else could, and in Rosie we have one of the best young crossover talents out there. I’m confident the fans are going to really enjoy the show.”

does the forum think this new concept will be a massive success? or will it be up there with the filly factor where lady commentators battled it out to become potentially the next richard hoiles but sadly no one did in the long run.

"Teams have more fun," Mayor said. "When I first heard about the Racing League, I thought how exciting it would be to have fans cheering on their team.

"Being a jockey can be a little lonely at times, so the prospect of jockeys pushing each other on for the sake of the team will be super. Racing League and Sky will bring punters, jockeys and fans together to support their team.

"Bring it on, it's going to be fun and I'm lucky to be a part of this!"

To Wilson, and I must admit I admire his stance, horse racing was a serious business, not an entertainment in need of dumbing down to attract a younger audience. Channel 4’s presentation of the sport was not his cup of tea. His gambling, too, was a serious business and he made a good second living from it, proving that long hours with your nose in the form book has its own rewards.

imo punting nowadays is not what racing channels want to promote it is bad news and dirty they want the love island audience

i have absolutely no interest in this whatsoever apart from for in running betting purposes...

sounds like yet another example of horse racing's head honchos trying to be 'hip' and 'down with the kids'...

all it will do is pi$$ off the ever decreasing amount of people who are currently interested in horse racing...

no doubt the presentation style will be all up / bouncy / edgy...

everything will be 'oh that's brilliant' / 'sensational ride' / 'wow...wow wow wow...just wow'...

if they think this will add anything to horse racing thay have yet again shot themselves in the foot coz it will do exactly the opposite.

so well done horse racing head honchos you've just popped another nail in the coffin.

No matter how they present it, it will still be a three hour TV program with approx ten minutes of live action. And probably more like twenty minutes of watching horses being pushed and shoved into the starting stalls.

And it'll still be six 0-90 handicaps on an AW track, with the big names that feature in the advertising (Dettori, Hollie, Gosden, Balding) all absent, because they will prefer to go to Goodwood.

Still the 'team' names are sure to be catchy and make it easy to choose one to support...... Oh, perhaps not:

Team ThoroughBid
Team BullionVault
eToro Racing
Goat Racing
Team ODDSbible
Team 6
Team Arena
Team 8
Team talkSPORT
Team 10
Team Race Horse Lotto
Newmarket Red

The first two weeks of this racing League could well get well and truly shadowed by the Olympics.

Next Thursday evening you have the women's Brazilian Volleyball team in action Tongue Out

The following Thursday you have the Men's 1500m semi-finals followed by the men's 400m final, women's Beach volleyball semi-finals Tongue Out, along with men's basketball semi-final. No end of other stuff going on too.

You'd expect the first two weeks to be crucial in getting the 'casuals' on board. Could be tough competing with the Olympics perhaps.

That is precisely the misapprehension that ALL these BROADCASTER are under, and making.

Just WHERE is this mythical NEW Audience ?

They are not going to tune to Sky Racing by/after checking their 'Tv Listings' .... That is a 1.01 - or 'a million' - whichever angle you care to take.

So - The only way that they MAY come across Horse RACING on TV is ... By 'Flicking' through the Channels ...

- and - IF they do could come across SKY RACING - or ITV RACING - for that matter - it is an absolute 1.01 that within a SECOND they will have 'Flicked' on to the next Channel .... If they have NO previous interest in HORSE RACING ...

UNDENIABLE

Just as I would so do if coming across bloody boring Basketball, Skiing, Swimming, Strongman Contests and the like - whilst 'flicking' through Channels

Each team has three jockeys, but they only have one runner in each race, so they don't need all three to be at the relevant meeting.
