you see a car for 10 seconds then it's gone for a few minutes...

most folk probably don't even know which car is which...

even watching it on the telly is as dull as ditch water...

140 thousand there tomorrow i gather...

i just don't get it.

Nearly as bad as watching a cycle race. They don't even come round again !
Report HappyHibby July 17, 2021 10:17 AM BST
i can understand something like speedway...

fans at the track can see all of the action all of the time...

but this Formula 1 nonsense is just bizarre...

maybe the fans are the sort of folk who think it's 'hip' to say 'i was at the British Grand prix and i saw Sir Lewis romp it'...

and i bet the tickets cost a small fortune.

It's a open cinema. They watch the race on the big screen and has the sound I suppose as they go past. Suppose u get to see the true speed and the occasional crash. But for 2 and half hour u could just end up with sunstroke
Report spyker July 17, 2021 10:25 AM BST
Look at what it costs as well, at least speedway is only a few quid.
Report HappyHibby July 17, 2021 10:29 AM BST
how much is a ticket...?

i'm guessing it's a 3 figure job...????

just pitch a tent outside your local petrol station and wait for a young buck going past in his Lamborghini...

Not sure abut this year but mate of mine looked at it a few yers back and it was something like 200 for the 2 days before but not the race and double for the race.that included camping , not sure what it would be just for a ticket now. Not dissimilar to music festival tickets which took a marked leap up around the millennium.

used to like the speedway at Powderhall on the Friday and the greyhound racing on the saturday

If I was an animal I wouldn't want to watch it either. It's the most boring sport on the planet. You could just as well send remote controlled cars round the track. No personalities, it's just about who has the fastest piece of metal.

Sadly, we are a nation of petrolheads. How many people these days have more cars than they really need? Gardens hjave been replaced by endless parking lots.

I don't understand the total pricks who lap up Top Gear, or whatever it's called these days. Boys with toys.

F1 just bores me to tears, I wouldn't go and watch it live if you paid me. Give me Plumpton on a wet and windy Monday afternoon any day.

In a way its like watching a race on the Rowley mile. U see the horse for 10 seconds

Motor racing comes in the same category as sports i'd close the curtains for if taking place in the back garden , along with Boxing , Soccer , Golf , Cycling and Athletics.

fu is not a sport, and nor is golf. fitting that f1's no1 is that vile knob hamilton with his hideous tribal markings, shrapnel all over his empty melon and ludicrous shabby-chic clobber.

correct. if you can win its biggest events when you a obese, 50-odd years old while puffing on oily rag, then it aint sport. its a game, like snooker.

I love F1, can never understand why anyone would want to watch 2 thugs get in a boxing ring and try to kill each other.
Report sageform July 17, 2021 12:32 PM BST
agree about boxing but F1 is about tenth in my list of preferred sports.
Report layingisthewayforward July 17, 2021 12:32 PM BST
I'm sure there are plenty of F1 fans that wouldn't want to stand in a field and watch some horses run past.

Horses for courses innit.

At least the cars pass by once a minute, think about the poor souls it watch the IOM TT, Tour de France and worse still the Boat Race and the London Marathon. Can only think they are drawn in by advertising expectation or they have just nothing better to do and they are free to watch. Takes all sorts, I suppose the think we are mad betting on horses.
Report FatPunt July 17, 2021 12:43 PM BST
I have never watched an entire F1 race and never will. Completely pointless. If the British Grand Prix was raced in my back garden, I would close the curtains and put SSR or RTV on!
Report differentdrum July 17, 2021 12:44 PM BST
Boxing terrible as well, but at least you don't win because you have a better pair of boxing gloves than the opponent. Never quite understood that if you tried to do the same out on the street you would be arrested for assault, but throw a ring around it, don a pair of gloves, and it is fine. To win by inflicting damage the most damage on the human body can't be a good thing. Despite the protection you see how many boxers suffer brain damage or serious illness. It isn't coincidence.
