Trueshan stays in the Plate decs bidding to win off 118 (previous highest winner of 107). 12/1 yesterday, now generally 6s. Surely can't win carrying 10-4 though! Also still in the Fred Archer on same day, which I imagine they might consider if the rain comes, but reports suggesting it heads for the Plate. And does anyone ever do stats any more on this race?
Tough since its gone onto the sand, loses a bit of interest.
Plot horses v quality... Should make it more interesting.

Anyone remember when Jim Bolger’s team accidentally entered Alexander Goldrun in a handicap off 117?
It was a simple accident and she never ran but Jim tried to joke his way out of it ie - Well I felt she has so much class she could carry the weight etc etc
Can’t think of many improving G1 horses to have tried this on the flat.

There was similar top weight that won the race in 1984 - Karadar carried 9-10 and there was only one other runner with more than 8-11. Karadar was a 6-y-old entire that had won the Doncaster Cup and the Jockey Club Cup the previous year.
I don't know what his official rating was, not even sure they were published back then, but Timeform rated him at 118 at the end of 1983, so probably not far off the mark for Trueshan. And with the bottom weight then 7-7, he had to give away more weight than Trueshan to his rivals.

The lightly raced 4yo Opera gift could be a snip off of 8st8 and he'll do for me at 8/1. Nice pipe opener at Salisbury last month and missed RA unlike some of his rivals. Trueshan wont be a pushover, but the stats are heavily against him and I prefer the inform mare, Dubious Affair as an alternative.

Two against the field both each way, Dubious Affair, obvious chance after being unlucky at Royal Ascot and seemingly 4lb well in here and Grandmaster Flash, won nicely both times before not getting a run at Chester last time out, happens to quite a few so not out of it at around 20 on here. Have the O'Brien's ever won this race? Good luck whatever you're on.

Connections must have been gutted the rain didn't come a day earlier at RA. I would suspect that connections won't run the horse again unless they see soft in the going description. Like Howard said, it was just weak race at Wolves for his Novice win.
