ASCOT COMP - GROUP STAGE - 48 RUN

Hello all,

Welcome to the brief group stage of the Ascot KO Comp. Below is the draw.

SIMPLE RULES FOR THOSE THAT CBA READ THE SMALL PRINT!

Make 5 selections from any of the 7 Ascot races, no more than 1 selection per race. Label one of your selections NAP, and another one NB, if successful the NB and NAP selections will score bonus points. Selections can be Win or EW.

The tournament consists of 48 players. The first stage will be groups, from then on just Knockout. Only 2 members from each group with the highest amount of points will qualify for the knockouts, the rest of the group are eliminated. This is to fit in with the Ascot schedule.

The most profit on the day advances to the next round. You will make 5 selections from any races at Ascot only on that day, you will make 1 selection your NAP, which will receive 2x the points and one selection your NB which will receive 1.5x points. To get your entry in something like this would be appreciated:

TUES:

Ascot 2:30 – Red Stripes
Ascot 3:05 – No bet
Ascot 3:40 – The King’s Steed
Ascot 4:20 – Frankel (NB)
Ascot 5:00 – No bet
Ascot 5:35 – Bobs Oss
Ascot 6:10 – Bristol de Mai (NAP)

Ascot 3:05 – Lethal Lunch (Reserve)

SETTLEMENT:

Similar to the last comp, STAKE WILL NOT BE RETURNED ON WINNINGS BETS, this is to discourage the use of short prices where possible, each way betting is permitted BUT WILL BE SETTLED TO STANDARD NUMBER OF PLACES TO ¼  OF THE ODDS FOR EVERY SELECTION JUST TO HELP THE SIMPLE SETTLER SAVE A BIT OF TIME. You cannot take a price and all bets are settled to official SP.

Standard bets are 20pt win or 10pt EW.


MISC:

I am sure everyone will play fairly but can I ask that if your opponent already has their selections in, could you make sure at least 2 of your selections are different from theirs please, including the group stages, this is to avoid any boringness or gamesmanship. If this does happen accidently, the person to post second will receive the favourite the 4th and 5th race they have duplicated, if their opponent has the fav, they get the 2nd fav.

Selections can be made right up until a minute before the 1st race (forum clock), if your opponent has already posted, make sure you haven’t duplicated 4+ selections, it’s unlikely I know. The forum clock is often 1h out, we can bare this in mind.

NON RUNNERS:

The best option is to leave a reserve at the bottom of your selections as shown in the example, if you forget or don’t want to leave a reserve and a selection of yours becomes a NR then as long as it is 1 min before the first race you can change the selection. If racing has started and you haven’t named a reserve and have a non-runner, you will receive the favourite in the race your horse was a NR.

TIES:
In the event of a tied finish there shall be a decider the next day before racing gets underway at Ascot. I will pick a race at a different venue and the players that have tied will pick a horse each in that race and the horse that achieves the best finish is through to the next round.
