Back along, Betfair complained to the Racing Post that they weren't being portrayed as a good option for punters in the Racing Post (were taking out full page adverts daily to highlight the better proposition).

Editor Bruce Millington said he could fix that, but it would cost Betfair £1 million a year.

Betfair said no.

Don't take at face value whatever comes out of Bruce Millington's mouth.

By coincidence, I have Jojo Rabbit (13 points) on DVD about a foot away from me.

Daisy's going to university to do a degree in being a paramedic. Tbh I'd not realised that driving an ambulance was a graduate profession, but I suppose most jobs are these days.

I think a paramedic actually gets out of the ambulance and medically attends the patient, in which case they are not just an overpaid cabbie .
Report Ramruma June 12, 2021 12:16 PM BST
@blunder -- sorry, was taking a cheap pop at the degree-isation of so many jobs, rather than at paramedics' skills.

But I like your phrase "overpaid cabbie" so:-

A quick look at the London Ambulance Service job site finds these salary ranges:-

Newly-qualified paramedic (band 5): £25k to £31k
Qualified paramedic (band 6): £31k to £38k

Whereas Uber drivers are said to earn about £15 an hour so for a 40-hour week, 50 weeks of the year, that is £30,000.

But think of the job satisfaction and free uniform! Grin

Bloody hell, wouldn't fancy getting emergency treatment from one of Ramruma's post A-Level twelve week intensive course paramedics!
