Last 32 man comp went well, won by GLENTOBY, some fantastic tipping from this loose cannon!
That one was in lockdown and folk had very little to do I would presume, so may of been a few entries down to pure boredom, may get less here but we shall run with 16+. This comp ties in well with the end of the team tipping comp I believe which is a positive.
If anything the last KO comp was possibly a little long winded, with RA being held behind closed doors I propose a QUICKER KO comp, all done in a week.
Format propsed:
16 man KO (32 if interest)
Last 16 Tues
Quarters Wed
Semi's Thurs
Final Friday
If we get enough interest, we will use all 5 days.

I did briefly consider messaging BF to see if they would stick a daft trophy up, after all it is drumming up interest to their forum and maybe a small bit of traffic to the site but imagine the hoops you would have to jump through to speak to a decison maker on this one?

The options are:
Tuesday start - 8 groups of 5 men and the top 2 qualify for the last 16, its knockout from then on, the final would be RA Saturday.
OR
Tuesday start - Run a round where there are plenty of byes, leaving 32 men by Wednesday, the final wouldnt be a Sat finish.
OR
Monday start - Run a round where there are plenty of byes, leaving 32 men by Tuesday, the final would finish on RA Saturday.

To get your entry in something like this would be appreciated:

Ascot 3:40 – The King’s Steed
Ascot 4:20 – Frankel (NB)
Ascot 5:00 – No bet
Ascot 5:35 – Bobs Oss
Ascot 6:10 – Bristol de Mai (NAP)
Ascot 3:05 – Lethal Lunch (Reserve)
SETTLEMENT:
Similar to the last comp, STAKE WILL NOT BE RETURNED ON WINNINGS BETS, this is to discourage the use of short prices where possible, each way betting is permitted BUT WILL BE SETTLED TO STANDARD NUMBER OF PLACES TO ¼ FOR EVERY SELECTION JUST TO HELP THE SIMPLE SETTLER SAVE A BIT OF TIME. You cannot take a price and all bets are settled to official SP.
Standard bets are 20pt win or 10pt EW.
MISC:
I am sure everyone will play fairly but can I ask that if your opponent already has their selections in, could you make sure at least 2 of your selections are different from theirs please, this is to avoid any boringness or gamesmanship. If this does happen accidently, the person to post second will receive the favourite the 4th and 5th race they have duplicated, if their opponent has the fav, they get the 2nd fav.
Selections can be made right up until a minute before the 1st race (forum clock), if your opponent has already posted, make sure you haven’t duplicated 4+ selections, it’s unlikely I know.
NON RUNNERS:
The best option is to leave a reserve at the bottom of your selections as shown in the example, if you forget or don’t want to leave a reserve and a selection of yours becomes a NR then as long as it is 1 min before the first race you can change the selection. I would go with the first option, starting on Tuesday and finishing on Saturday. Anything else wouldn't be a Royal Ascot competition.
I too agree with first option.
It might be confusing things by referring to the 'forum clock' in the Rules as it's wrong. Just stick to the time the race is scheduled to start.

Just a thought, Its Me Swaddle, but if there are more than 32 entries for the Tuesday rather than a preliminary round on non ascot races you could draw several "three man" knockouts in the first round, where the best man wins and goes through and two go out? That keeps it to an Ascot competition and I doubt anyone would object to that?
I'd stick in an entry fee, would make it a bit more interesting. Could do a paypal pool and the OP/Tournament Director could hold the funds.
No entry fees but if this one runs smoothly will consider for future. Think technically you might need a license.
Like all the competitions more than interesting enough without any money.

Bookmaker rep Norfolk ses that he will lay any ov the 48 runners to make it through to the last 16 at 5/4.
He also stated he expects a strong showing from Glentoby who he would only lay at 4/5 for 500 max no forecasts
