They usually blame it on the weatherman. It was good to soft for the April Sandown meeting when he said it was good to firm and there had been no rain.

Is good to firm ground no longer allowed in summer anymore? I suspect even without the rain it would have been good (good to soft in places).
He has had a nightmare and should apologise on national tv

It is the impudence to still call the ground Good to Firm after at least 7mm of rain on top of his watering. Why can these people just not tell the truth.......but as ever nothing will happen and no sanction by his employers.

Problem nowadays is you have Clerks who are basically making commercial decisions to maintain field sizes and avoid non-runners. Its total bull. Musselburgh today is saying (after 2 hot dry days) its softer than on thurs - the only watering allowed under the rules is maintain 'safe' ground. GF is safe ground, Gd ground to accommodate soft ground horses should be a rule breach
