Can anyone explain why the Derby Trial has a much bigger prize than the Oaks Trial even though they both only have Listed status, and why does the Derby Trial have the same prize as a later Group 3 race?

I thought there was a hierarchy. but obviously not. Can the racecourse just put up what it wants to?

If a trainer says their 3yo colt identifies as a filly then can it run in the Oaks Trial?
