Another thread for fish based puns and Filthy Each Way bets.

Possibly with a few Plaice only bets, Plaice only lays and maybe some Each Way (Plaice focussed) Multiples/Accas if the shops ever open again.

No fixed rules but will likely focus on the Flat (Turf & AW) rather than NH, mostly Stakes races (not Handicaps). The only firm rule is that all bets and stakes (and if possible prices) will be posted before the races and there will be a running tally of the P&L for my bets.

A fine day of sporting action - but more grim fare for EW thieves and filthsters (imo)

I started this new thread specifically for the flat, so although the 18:25 Hexham has a very appealing shape - I'm going to stick with swerving the NH racing for thread bets. GL if you play.
Report stewarty b May 1, 2021 11:56 AM BST
Off subject TM but I'm looking at Thirsk for a possible tri-cast however even though in the only two I've done I've bagged the winner twice and a forecast the last one I did was a permutation of five at 30p which cost £18.

On reflection, as soon as I put it on I literally gave Manny's fifty nine 30ps. Not so clever when you look at it that way.
Report The Management May 1, 2021 12:08 PM BST
That's very true - but you know that as soon as you abandon it boxes 1,2 & 3 will skate in 3 lengths clear of the rest of the field! Laugh

I only ever played them based on my perception of the draw (hopefully exacerbated by the going) - but that is diminished (to some extent) these day anyway. I think in this day and age if you suspect the draw will be a major factor in a race - there are more ways to play it (with less variance) that don't have such a "lottery feel" to them as the tricast.
Report stewarty b May 1, 2021 12:20 PM BST
On top of that the last one was the Scottish National in which nearly 50% of the field failed to finish!

Can't see any filth again.  Mildly dusty 4.16 Windsor and 2.50 Down Royal.
Report The Management May 3, 2021 11:55 AM BST
Morning Jon - I have to agree - those two races have a nice shape - but are just the best of a bad bunch on a day where nothing leaps off the page as utter EW filth.

Lots of those races today with maybe just three in the betting (and the odd "lurker" that's hard to totally dismiss) - but those type of races are a far cry from races with just two likely winners (plus the odd "lurker" that can probably be overlooked).

A few races that would be interesting if there were further NR's and interested to see how the going pans out at Windsor - but all I've got is speculative, rather than confident. GL.

Good day fellas......The 4.16 at Royal Windsor is an interesting one.....I don`t think the fav can give the weight away to the other 2, but trying to split them is hard, So I will be betting the Gosden one to win, and Bringsty Win/PLAICE, although that tight turn slightly worries me, with this one as it looks a massive horse? Not thread related but I am having a decent bet on Notre Belle Bete in the 4.20 Curragh. I have been waiting for this one to come out again, as it ran a cracker on debut(watch the replay), and the form is rock solid.Having been slowly away, and having to come around the field, with normal improvement it has to have a great chance.I also note it has changed ownership since that debut for a tidy some!!!

Morning Jon - having been steadfast in refusing to play even the classically shaped utterly filthy NH races on this new thread (at the cost of about +12.00 to the thread bet P&L!) I'm going to have to stick to that for thread bets.

Otherwise I think I would have built some speculative EW doubles around an EW banker in the 19:20 Southwell. But it's dead-8 anyway and with 6 hour gaps between some of the races I would play it with, it's all just a bit too speculative.

Long story short - I have got nothing for this thread today! GL

Well done Tanglefoot (Accomplice) - not really interested in H'Caps (on this thread) - but a very good shout at a nice price.

I love a good place lay/bet in the AW Handicaps - but liquidity prevents putting them up on here because the prices would be fictional - if you get more than a score matched you've probably pushed it in/out to something resembling the price that you think it ought to be!

Good shout though.

Morning Jon - I got stuck on some outdoor chores yesterday (trying to beat the weather) - I had nothing (for this thread) anyway.

Today looks more promising - I have gone the other way round from you (i.e. Singles first - probably a few doubles to follow):

16:35 Lingfield: Persaria - Each Way - 1.5 Stakes - take the 9/2 imo (if you can get it!)
16:35 Lingfield: Swiss Flamingo - Each Way - Half Stake - take the 50/1 imo (if you can get it!)

Probably no other EW singles for me - but some EW doubles with Persaria as the banker look possible. GL
Report The Management May 8, 2021 12:19 PM BST
The 9/2 & 4/1 on Persaria (16:35 Lingfield) is now long gone (it was always going to happen!) but it's been a while since one of these races didn't just have the dead-8 runners, making it difficult to take an early price EW without worrying overly about a Non-Runner impacting the place terms.

I'm a bit annoyed that Swiss Flamingo hit 66's (in places) not long after I took the 50's - but obviously that's a pretty speculative (place focussed) EW bet - partly because I'm not crazy about Perfect Dream and partly because I hope the draw might play a small part in the race for the places.

Waiting for non-runners (in other races) means I have missed the 4/1 & 9/2 for Persaria for EW doubles purposes, so with enough eggs in that basket already - I think I'll give the EW doubles a swerve (at least in terms of thread bets). GL.

Report The Management May 11, 2021 1:21 PM BST
The problem I have with the Irish racing (both flat and NH - although I very rarely play the NH anyway) is the dominance of a handful of trainers. That should be good - i.e. for EW thievery you are looking for non-competitive races - and it does translate well, in as much as the betting shape of nearly every stakes race run in Ireland could be described as at least "mildly dusty".

However my reality is similar to yours Jon, in that (if I still played it) I would have far too many unplaced selections (even in the relatively filthy Irish races).

Due to the lack of utter filthy races - my preferred use of e-way betting is EW doubles where one of the selections (Horse A) is a banker and runs (usually) in the sole utterly filthy race that day. With only that one totally filthy race available - I couple this with a handful of "dusty EW" races (Race B,C,D,E, etc) for the EW doubles. So in that example 5 selections would only result in 4 x EW doubles consisting AB, AC, AD & AE. Played correctly the place only element will be profitable - any win money running-on is a bonus and/or an opportunity to at least trade/recover the win stakes.

To cut a long story short - it involves putting a lot of eggs in one basket and I'm very comfortable doing that if the race is right for it - but my banker ("Horse A") has not been from an Irish race for many years and probably never ever will be!

In essence the betting shape of most stakes races over there makes it appear like it should be an absolute paradise for filthy EW bettors, in reality it just isn't  - that's just my opinion - but it's based on experience and data too. GL.

I haven't played over there today 37 (apart from the handicaps) - but I'd be a place layer of the shorties any day of the week in preference to betting each-way in most of their stakes races. There is a nice EW betting shape in pretty much every race but plenty of them finish out of the money.

Report 37+73 May 11, 2021 5:44 PM BST
that is annoying....managed to get my stake back easy enough...but led everywhere but the last stride aarrggghhhh

That was ugly/painful to watch 37 - Ficticious lady went 1.1x in running - but I'd think the ground did for the other one (Mudawy).

It was TM...but that`s racing...how long is that last furlong?...I am sure they have moved the winning post
Report 37+73 May 11, 2021 5:55 PM BST
that would have been a nice winner as well, as I managed to snaffle some of the bigger prices early doors..but at least it wasn`t 4th!!!

Yeah - they don't fook about over there with the market moves - you get the odd subtle one - but generally if they come for one they come for it properly - likewise if they don't like one - it just keeps getting bigger and bigger. Shocked

I actually got more matched  (not massive) on the irish site, which I use for football and some racing...It has always been useful during these crashes.....I am actually running out of patience with this lot...the service etc is getting worse...even the shares i have left in them are finishing 4th atm!!! !!!

Good morning fellas....TM Jon Skip et all....just want to wish you all well for the future.....I am closing my account today (after 20 yrs+)as I have had enough of them....it is certainly not the company I once knew.........happy punting

Hi 37 - sorry to hear that.

Respect for voting with your feet - if everybody did that things might have to improve. The decline was inevitable imo once the traditional books got involved and took control. It feels like they are more than happy to see the exchange model stagnate, seems like they operate a strategy of "isolate, contain and control" - i.e. tolerate exchanges merely to keep that element of the customer base ringfenced away from the core business.

Unfortunately, I think treating customers with contempt is par for the course across the industry. Best wishes wherever you end up mate.

The 18:50 Bath and the 19:30 Dundalk look the best of a bad bunch for this kind of betting today - nothing really doing for me. GL.

That's a shame 37, all the best for the future.

I agree TM there's not much filth again.

3.10 York (dead 8), 3.30 Worc, 6.50 Bath and 7.30 Dun are all on my dusty list.

Morning.

I've got a few races on my list to keep tabs on.   1.00 Perth, 6.05 new and 7.15 new.
Report The Management May 13, 2021 12:06 PM BST
Morning Jon - I have got nothing solid  - all three of the stakes races at Newmarket (17:30, 18:05 & 19:15) look a bit dusty - but they also all look a little bit "lurky". They are the sort of races I would be happier about playing if there was something solid/confident to double them up with - hopefully we get a "standout" one day soon! GL
