A race worth 220,000 to the winner and ONE entry, Jerrysback a 9yo rated 140 . Surely there must be more horses available than this lad in England , it really is shameful that so many English horses are sat in their boxes doing nothing..
What's the point of coming over?..you've got all the best drugs, the best vets, the handicappers in your pockets, always giving each other easy leads ...have I missed out anything....quite fancy Jerrysback actually especially considering the connections...a more competitive race than Aintree this year

Apart from those trainers mentioned surely there are other trainers who have horses sitting in their boxes doing nothing , its no wonder people are coming to Ireland with their horses and cash . Lead on , you'd make a great spokesman for them , whinging about prize money yet doing nothing when the chance appears to get some valuable prizes . This is the very reason British racing is in decline , who in their right mind would want to have a horse in training in England right now. The races are there now come out and get them...

aintree won't be the same this year with a shortage of irish runners. workrider you're absolutely right about the prize money situation and it was already heading in the wrong direction pre-covid, just have to hope that the courses don't hesitate to top up the levy funds when crowds allowed back, but I don't think prize money is the only factor, the better horses/trainers are in Ireland although you have to stand in wonderment at the quantity of trainers/jockeys in ireland who find a way to 'live the dream' with 10 horses/10 rides per week up against the big battalions.

It's only running because 5 runners isn't enough to boost JP's ego!
I have not had a bet in the race since Amble Speedy was robbed by the judge(Mr Magoo) in 1997, not that I hold a grudge

Gordon every race at Fairyhouse today was so competitive it was unreal , in Britain small fields and uncompetitive races are the norm .The reason races are so well contested over here is the prize money one decent race be it flat or N.H..means you are covered for the season , I noticed a horse won five races in England this year and only collected roughly £25,00 for its five wins . Yesterday at Fairyhouse the least valuable of their 3 days were as follows . Value to the winners in Euros , 7,200 8,100 13,500, 8,700 ,30,000, 48,000,18,000, 7,200. The G1 Challow and Tolworth hurdles are worth at a maximum £50,000 and they are G1s they are the ONLY 2 G.1s novices run in England and have had the same prize money since 2015..

yes workrider I remember a group calling themselves 'the horsemen' who stated their intention not to run horses at meetings where the prize money (think it was per race) didn't meet a particular standard, of course this has fallen by the wayside as others continued to run their horses regardless, indeed some 'smart' trainers took advantage of the absence of 'the horsemen' and ran even more horses!! you couldn't make it up...i've always said, until and unless the amount of AW racing, particularly out of season AW racing is significantly reduced, AND the racecourses focus on the horses and horse racing fans instead of ladies/gents/music nights and exorbitant food/beverage prices, only the biggest courses e.g. York/Chester/Ascot/Goodwood/Cheltenham will prosper

I think a lot of British trainers were shocked at the Irish onslaught at Cheltenham and hid behind their masks in astonishment , they surely have owners questions to answer , if I was an owner in Britain I'd want to know how a horse that I was paying a Kings Ransom to keep in training could run so poorly , to many British trainers have not moved with the times , H.Daly B. Hobbs and many many others are just caught in a time warp and are been left behind, to many have plodders and seem to think this is the way forward, running over 3m 3furs in hock deep going for £3,000 first prize . Its time they were told were to sling their hook and come into the present...

Why on earth would English trainers go over to Ireland for a handicap when the Irish runners have 15 pounds in hand when coming over to England...so effectively when they go over to Ireland the Irish runners have 20+ in hand?
Not being funny though, the Irish programme is excellent for jumpers...Willie Mullins must be delighted how things are going in Ireland

Good man Harry , stay at home and don't improve , keep doing the same things that don't work you are sure to improve . Harry and his ilk are the reason the Irish will remain light years ahead of their British competitors .

What runner should be running tomorrow workrider? Scottish national in a couple of weeks
All the horses are trained in Ireland now and the handicap system is a mile out anyway

you have to understand the art of training a horse, there must be a reason only one turned up, look at the premier league matches they hardly break sweat sometimes, its like watching pansies

You keep saying the handicaps are out of order , what you fail to see is our races are competitive while British ones are usually 6/8 runners , as has already been said the English H/capper has valued British form fair higher forgetting how little value it really has, hence the real issue . Its like saying British boxers are the best till they go abroad and get whipped , you have to be competitive to find your true worth sadly the British h/capper has fallen into believing British horses deserve such high rating therein lies the problem...

There are two lovely beauties on this thread , firstly workrider , the biggest gobshiite that ever posted on any forum , he literally has no idea what he’s talking about , and makes no sense whatsoever. English horses rarely as a rule ran in the Irish National , particularly with the options of the English and Scottish Nationals , and also the whitbread to choose from . Road runner is his buddy , a total looney tune , they are some double act on fairness .

Uncle Robo you and your Gaa pals making a laughing stock of us all , pity they you didn't let them train on your camp site and your sleeping partner Slickster could have made them a little breakfast while he was at it, I doubt Mullingar appeals to them though . Harry From very little runners the English won it in 2014 so why don't they send more horses over..

English trainers should target the Irish grand national they would get on very well if they had a plan from start of year.Since 1990 they have been 5 English winners.I dont know how many have try in them years.

Of course they should Cloone just look at the trainers who've won it in resent times..S Hughes no longer training, D Love no longer training , M.Morris , T. Gibley , A. Moore J Motherway ..Many of them had less than 25 horses in training at the time . Robo was probably in Hospital in those years God love him...

You are well versed in what goes on in the big White House you poor little thing ,I would be quiet about your absence from the forum these past years if I were you, you outbursts against Trainers Jockeys Formites are things of great ugliness , your mental state is not to be laughed at , I'd say your stay in mental hospitals have cost the state a fortune. Telling people not to send their horses over for huge prize money tells us all we need to know about you . The Mullingar Mafia includes your bedfellow Slickster who for some reason can't help himself appearing alongside his beloved on every thread I am on..Take your meds there's a good man...

I’d take my meds if I could afford to buy them , unlike yourself I have to pay for medication , you on the other hand have rode the state for over half a century claiming benefits and then breeding more generations of hand out merchants . I can only imagine what you yourself have cost our state , both directly and indirectly , and to top it all off , you have the temerity to ignore our covid laws by swanning off to the races with your pal roadrunner. You owned dogs , horses , play golf regularly , give money to bookies , head off racing around Ireland and Britain , yet never did a days work in your life , that’s incredible , it really is .

do you mean British trainers.Glad I'm not English I'd be thinking some Irish posters are racist.
So you admit English (British) runners are rated too high by the BHA but you can't understand why they don't travel over to run in Irish h'caps.
Really. You don't understand that. Honestly!! Wow!!
Isn't it obvious?

You are not dealing with a normal human being. Wonky's remaining braincell is rarely in decent working order. Breaking the 5km rule regularly tells you what u need to know. A clueless disgrace.

A footnote to Harry and Souldancer , until British trainers learn the skill it takes to get your horse well handicapped they will always remain behind simple as, getting a horse well handicapped is part and parcel of been a good trainer ask Prescott.

Ist of course its hard winning at Cheltenham or are you saying that Cheltenham races are not REAL championship races anymore . You seem to forget that most Irish running were also running and winning at the REAL championship races at the DRF . Irish horses are at least getting proper runs unlike their English friends who have a quiet jog around San in a 5 or 6 runner race then the head to Cheltenham and wonder why they get hammered by race fit challengers...

Whilst preening your Jingoistic Feathers - workrider ...
You also display your lack of understanding of the Handicap System
UK Horses have to/are set to run in IRISH HANDICAPS off their UK Rating - All of which are based at a Higher level than the comparable level of Ratings of ALL the Irish horses running in their 'Home' Races.
UK Horses are therefore DISADVANTAGED before the Flag Falls in All Irish Jump Handicaps ...
- and it is, consequently, pretty pointless sending any UK horse to run in an Irish Jumps Handicap race... as they are all 'Wrong in the Handicap'

Onlooker , I fully understand your point , but if they never come over and race how can the British Handicapper ever raise them , if he gets a look at British horses been run over then surely he has to raise the Irish runners when they arrive in Britain ,but if they don't race against Irish horses what can he do. Two horses sent back over to Ireland from Nicholls won today . Stormy Ireland couldn't win a G3 over there yet wins a G2 first time back in a more competitive race. Its your over rated trainers that need looking into my friend...
