It doesn't really matter if you believe lockdowns are effective or not. You either do it (if you are a believer) or you don't do it at all (if you are a non-believer).

A lockdown isn’t a lockdown whilst planes are still landing every 8 minutes at various airports, trains are running between cities, kids still at school or nurseries. Not sure what you mean but as tory I just want a lockdown for as long as it takes for me and the rest of the retired population to get vaccinated. I have yet to meet anyone over 50 who has not been calling for a lockdown from March until now except that if they had kept it going through August and banned flights, the virus would be gone.

You don't have to close the borders, but you do have to have a decent method in place for testing those who cross it.

A test only means that you aint got it at the time of the test. Might not develop till after the test. NO ONE IN, NO ONE OUT!

Yes, as the last health secretary said earlier, you escort them to a quarantine centre but why anyone is allowed in I am not sure. What can't be doe remotely? All Governments underestimated this but at least some have stayed sealed of from other countries as much as is possible. We do have to import food but it is fairly easy to have food trailers dropped at a foreign port, put on a ferry by local staff and then removed at the UK end by a driver with a recent test. It happens a lot already. No other imported goods are essential for a few weeks.

No one is coming out of this shining in glory.. but how about some questions for the so called top scientists and scientific advisors... they have not had a clue from day one. They are supposed to be world class, yet they couldn’t work out a virus of the same family as the common cold etc might mutate. They couldn’t work out whether masks helped or didn’t.. whether it was being transmitted from objects or the air... do the young carry and infect? Do they not carry.. do they carry when only at home but not in the classroom or the journey there..? Ffs world class.... I’d hate to see the bad ones!!

Germany has entered a hard lockdown, closing schools and non-essential businesses in an attempt to stop a sharp rise in Covid-19 infections. The measures will be in place until 10 January. Christmas will see a slight easing, with one household allowed to host up to four close family members.
