Hard to disagree, that looks nearside all the way.

Nearside won a clear shd, even on the poor photo image. Dreadful effort.

When is a judge not a judge?

Hard to believe. I reckon the photo was too dark so judge ducked the call. Good result for me though.

I thought with it taking so long that it was Emily but no....

It's as if the judge has said..." oh i can't clearly make them out so i'll call a dead heat "

the pause when they showed the print said it all. I have Cheltenham down as a fair angle on my list but this result would maybe suggest it is now a fair angle but with a late line - possible change in the mirror positioning there

Have a look at the photo before you fire another one off Onlooker.  Then tell me what you would have done. It's available on the BHA website.

Main problem is that it's pitch black out there, IRE.  Suspect your list is still alright.  Hoiles flagged it as soon as they went over the line.

that camera angle taken almost under the rails suggested it was very very close
the still on BHA can't be only one judge went by or he has got it badly wrong even with my dodgy eyesight

Pitch black would have been an assumption.

Jesus christ! Crazy they've called a dead heat off that.

The Headmaster - Please desist from being,  rather predictably, opportunistic.

Look at the saddle cloth numbers in the photo. Ishkhara Lady was No.6.  Click on tab 2.

Well based on that photo I can see why judge couldn't call it. It would need some further enhancement where the noses are which I assume they can't do.

Direct link. I think it's hard to call a winner there myself, although surely the technology exists whereby this should never be a situation?

Good man, Storm Alert - one of my favourites btw.  I remember him winning a 2m H'cap Chase at Ascot the same day Barton Bank won the Charlie Hall.  That was a good day.

Blame Racetech, blame Cheltenham, blame BHA, blame ITV.  But anyone making crass personal attacks on the judge should apologise imo.

Why has the judge produced a photo? If he can't find the horses' noses he can't place the line.
By:
Tiger Tiger
When: 14 Nov 20 17:39
Even in broad daylight its a dead heat, unless you want to chop the nose off one of them.

Why is the photo for third clear enough to judge?

I'd call that a dead heat

such a terrible photo, I had to bob my head about to be able to tell (The eyes see more detail when you or object is moving)
By:

if you blow it up 400x using magnifier on your computer you can see a added nose that you cant see in normal view ,clearly shows it a dead heat , its misleading without
