Pinatubo and Siskin lay their reputations on the line today, with both needing to show that they truly stay the mile. I would love to see Pinatubo bolt up, but I fear that Circus Maximus might find the 3 year olds out and although I wont have a bet, 6/1 makes looks value to me.

go back far enough and persian king has claims on his beating of magna grecia who thumped circus maximus in the futurity ,trip no problem and a double figga price ,circus maximus is a battler and also a decent price around 6/1 these 2 will do for me .

I like Siskin. Going to put a line through the Goodwood run and have a bit of 4.8. Still not convinced that Pinatubo gets a mile and the biggest danger could well come from the older horses. Never been a big fan of Victor Ludorum. Good luck to all if punting.

Pinatubo clearly has stamina doubt over 8f so why are connections running him? He's down for the Floret (a 7f race) on Arc Day. The ground is good to soft (not too soft I hope). I cannot have Siskin given his behaviour loading up, and I think he was outstayed in the less testing 8f Sussex Stakes trip; Persian King giving weight to the youngsters could be beyond him.
But, Circus Maximus is consistent and tough. I think the heavy ground was against him last time. A contest between Pinatubo (if he's held up a bit longer) and Circus Maximus for victory.

Question marks over Pinatubo staying a fast run mile, Siskin disappointing when had run of the race at Goodwood and Circus beatable in this grade. VICTOR LUDORUM dropping back in trip to his impressive win in French 2000. 8/1 is much too big.

I'm wondering why Will Buick has deserted Pinatubo, one of Godolphin's high profile colts. I know the excuse is that he wouldn't want to miss the Leger meeting, but there has to be more to it. I reckon that he's been offered the choice of AOB rides, including Santiago, which he was in the frame for anyway along with Frankie and Oisin and I fully expect to see him onboard the Leger fav.

A race where you could make a good case for all of them, best watched but I am quite surprised that Persian King is the outsider of the field, might do a Back/ lay for a small interest.

Yes penzance, Ryan Moore as well, but they can both ride in Ireland during Champions weekend. I am just surprised that Buick has ditched Pinatubo for his rides at Donny.

Romanised should (opinyunz) have been promoted to winner of this race last year when beaten by Circus Maximus. I'd like to see him take some revenge. He actually looked in good nick when beaten 11 lengths on heavy ground last time, given an easy time of it in the last furlong, keeps him in shape for ideal ground here.

WD Foyles. I couldn't go back that far. I guess the ground was the reason he was hammered by Circus last time. Still a good time for me to take break until the Arc I think as nothing has gone for me in UK, US or France this weekend.

Siskin bubble popped.... not a top quality group 1 horse...pintubo best horse in race, got done by the pace angle.
Siskin couldn't even run down CM who had run his race by the 3 pole

Did n't have a bet but it looked like Godolphin had decided Siskin was the main danger and tracked him accordingly.
Happens regularly - why don't they just ride the race as it pans out? It's a Group 1, all the horses are competitive...

that was me - to be fair he only tipped 2 (very bold in a 6 runner) - Romanised he only mentioned. Just a bit surprised at all the backslapping - maybe he can give us his lottery numbers.

acey deucy 06 Sep 20 15:51 Anybody that thinks Doyle is a better Jockey than Buick needs to have a long hard look at themselves ffs
I think we need to call in the jockey ratings expert at this point, stand by...

Buick does at least make the table here, but this smacks of opportunity as much as anything elsehttps://www.thoroughbredracing.com/articles/eight-riders-who-have-been-world-number-one/
A form boost for Sottsass who beat Persian King easily over 10f last season; Pinatubo will never catch Persian King who stays 8f well and given an easy lead. Pinatubo barely just about stays the distance; Circus Maximus cut his own throat by tearing off in front.

Didn't need to lay anything off IR, as had him in an ew double with Frankstella at 4/1, got 10/1 for Persian King, nice 54/1 double, pity the 3rd leg was already beaten.

Based on that we can hardly say Pinatubo can't stay the mile. PK is a very good horse, and he was given a soft lead. Pretty much unbeatable under those circumstances.

If Doyle had ridden closer to the pace and not quite made it, many would be saying he should have hung back and made one big move late on. (Having said that, I suspect Frankie would have won with Pinatubo. But there aren't many who compare to him..)

We know 8f is stretching Pinatubo stamina to the limit. However, it's one thing to be held back, and another to give a soft lead to a good horse that won the French 2000G and finished 2nd in the French Derby to Sottsass starting fav. If his stamina was a major concerned why run him over 8f again?
Appleby and Doyle did not cover themselves in glory today.

^^ It could be his commercial value as a sire if securing an 8f Gp 1 win, I think .
Ran 8f each time got stuffed; 7f bingo! Is the Sussex less testing than Moulin?
