I wouldn't put you off that beast Lucky. Looks a good place bet to me and I presume they will go four places?

English King’s Lingfield trial win was both impressive to the eye and very good time. Berkshire Rocco had the run of the race there while you could argue didn’t have things all his own way at Royal Ascot. The form is solid and he stays well which some of the rivals need to prove.
I think Ryan has picked the right horse in MOGUL who looked totally unfit at Ascot. I can see him storming down the outside of the field and going close. Kameko is my idea of the place lay. This Derby will be run hard with no prisoners taken..this is a speed horse who would need a horse box to stay the Derby trip. |

one of aidens, never do ante post but sinned and dug deep last year on mogul 14/1 japans full brother who would have won last years derby apart from the mishap now got to bet the others

I am going round in circles trying to get an opinion on the race. I think we know it will be run fast and furious and that you will need luck in running and track position due to the big field. I quite like the Fav but the draw is not ideal imo but I think its fairly solid and if it gets to 4/1 its surely the play. Going to wait and see what the value is when the market gets a bit stronger. you will need to hit the line going away in these sort of races and truly get the trip and its impossible to imagine Kameko doing that! It may have had a chance in small field but not in the make up now is my thoughts.

Stewarty, English King was fav long before Frankie was booked to ride.
Looks an open race. Think the obrien 2nd string should stay well. Might also throw a few quid e/w on mohican heights. Good look all. |

It was hard not to be impressed by the way English King won the Derby Trial at Lingfield, the form does look solid and his rating of 112 looks quite a fair one. We know he will get the distance along with Pyledriver. The absence of any winners coming out of the 2,000 Guineas to date doesn't inspire confidence for the form although its early days and I'm sure one or two could improve for the extra distance. Drifting out to 4.8 just because of getting the number 1 berth looked a good price to me, have also backed Pyledriver at 21 as a back to lay, he was fairly impressive when disposing of Mogul by 5 lengths and would probably be half the price he is if trained by one of the big boys. Good luck.

I backed it in the 2000 guineas and I will stick with it at Epsom. I do believe it will stay unlike my selection last year Roaring Lion.

Mogul is the runner I cannot understand. Shortest price and Ryan Moore's pick of the Ballydoyle half-dozen. Backed by the right faces over the winter, we are told. Bred in the purple and a full brother to Japan. 3.4 million guineas.
But his form is rubbish, or at least not up to snuff. He's been beaten by Pyledriver at Royal Ascot and by Kameko at Newcastle. He ought to be 20/1, not 9/2. Otoh Aidan O'Brien knows what a Derby winner looks like and if Mogul is good enough for him... |

Stewarty, a word from the battle scarred.
If I can't see why they are fav, or that short, I get into combative mode and want to find the one that must, as a result, be too long. You may well be right, but don't be too dismissive until you are sure. Most often it is just something you don't, or can't know, or have not noticed. When it is fav and you understand why, but don't agree, I think you are on much more solid ground. |

I think Max Vega is going to run a mighty race at 42 on here. Thought Kameko was overpriced but soft going has put me off for the time being. Will wait till Saturday to see what the ground conditions are.

kameko for me
this horse has the obvious class , best form by far , won best trial , classic winner , will handle track and looks able to adapt to however the race pans out only unproven is trip and ground but kameko not alone there completely underestimated again forget AOB , if he had a really good one i doubt he would feel need to run 20 others , leaves english king imo who is very inexperienced and doesnt look to have beaten too much so far kameko for me cant see it being out the three , place cover for stake , good luck lads |

Obviously this beast might not stay but as the great Willie Carson used to say repeatedly when a pundit on BBC.... "Classic form is always the best" Good luck all. |

forget aob if he had anything any good he wouldnt run 20 in it ! ............last year he didnt have anything good in it and ran 7 "donkeys " .......result ...1st 3rd 4th 5th iirc ........!

Worthily 33/1 ew 4 places.
Why would Gosden throw in a total no hoper, won his maiden well, damn already thrown up a St leger so should stay. At that price with 4 places and that trainer worth a dabble, |
By:
Kameko now clear favourite, someone is confident that he will get the extra distance, wasnt stopping in the Guineas so maybe he will. Cant see the draw having much effect on the chances of English King, if he was a front runner and needing to be up with the pace early then maybe but he being a hold up horse will give Frankie plenty of chance to get his position right. English King for me, will hope to get 7 or thereabouts in running.
|
By:
Mogul was the fattest horse at ascot think he will have been burning up the gallops at home hoping his crash diet brings him forward enough
|
By:
Yes it has to be Kameko for me.
|
By:
I see the soothsayer At the Amato pub has given
KAMEKO |
By:
English King is still the obvious fav here IMO and almost certain to handle the track and distance. I don't think Dettori would jock off Marquand unless he was sure the horse had an exceptional chance. Pyledriver is the outsider I fear, sure to get the distance; going should be fine so I will have a saver on him.
|
By:
English King's obvious problem is having to overcome a bad draw (while hoping that Mogul in trap 2 does not get in his way) and presumably Frankie will have been working out a plan to do this. I'd imagine this will involve starting slowly and coming across behind the field, and not using up EK's energy in the first couple of furlongs to get across the course in front.
Trouble is, if Ballydoyle has it in mind to expose the doubtful stayers like Kameko by going off at a million miles an hour, English King might be too far behind at Tattenham Corner. I'm not convinced Ballydoyle does have that plan -- I think often people ascribe to team tactics what is really just running so many that one of them wins however the race is run. |
By:
If the rush to get here has not bottomed out Mogul ie 2 runs in 1 I'm still more hopeful he's as much chance as Kameko or English King (in that order) to lift top prize; Kameko has the best form; English King the best distance form.
|
By:
I hope stewy's up in time for the race!
|
By:
Kameko best horse in the race and still huge value. Mogul the danger as should be ever so much fitter today and AOB is a master.
