To be fair if the ground was good or firmer Monarch wins a minute imo. I can see this horse winning a Haydock Sprint cup or a July Cup over a stiff 6f on faster going

I have re watched the Sir Dragonet ride in full a few times now and it was either over confidence or a completely inept ride by RM.
He came wide in the straight but waited far too long to get serious on the horse as the winner had flown.

This has been going on now for about the guts of 2 seasons and his race positioning has gone to the dogs.

Apologies 1st time poster- I think his runs against Siskin at 6f were very good. Granted he got beat by less on soft ground than he did on good ground when he was a 2 year old against that horse. That has turned out to be top form and when he can't win over 7f on soft ground in a group 3 race that I thought was crap I think it tells some sort of story. I think he's going to better with a very stiff 6f on fast ground to show his very best.Just my opinion and I do think he will win a top prize when he has the conditions outlined. However I do concede he was given a lot to do today.

the only part of this i would disagree with is the number. If ye went back at least 5 years of particularly RA, this forum was exactly the same as it has been this time around. Endless topics of him out the back - getting boxed in et al. He rides the round course like a numpty. Maybe he misses the bell!

Report punchestown June 19, 2020 6:58 PM BST
FELTFAIR,nobody is above criticism,RLM for some unknown reason has in a lot of races decided to drop his mounts out the back, whether it suits the horse or not.
If you remember MJ Kinane's tenure in the role he would always be up with the leader or right on their tails with everything covered because he knew he was on either the best horse in the race or at least one of them.He utilised the same tactics when he rode for HRC or M Stoute and is why he was the go to jockey in Group 1's when he was available.

RLM used to do this for most of his career and he was a top class rider but for some reason in the last couple of years has changed his style, this is what is so perplexing/frustrating to observers.

Punchestown there are an army of jockey, trainer, presenter knockers on here, yourself included which I accept but impossible 123 only singles out Ryan Moore over and over again and has done for years. For me this is bullying and should not be tolerated.

Incidentally I never criticise jockeys but if I were to pick out a particularly bad ride it was Mick Kinane on Yesterday in the 2003 Oaks.

That said these guys risk life and limb for our entertainment and do not warrant constant criticism.

Report FELTFAIR June 20, 2020 12:07 PM BST
Punchestown, in answer to your question, no I don`t. Clearly some horses like to get to the front and be up with the pace but in general most horses perform to their best when they are allowed to settle and travel and then if good enough quicken and battle and in my opinion there is nobody better than Ryan Moore at executing these requirements.

Unfortunately a great many Ballydoyle horses are just not good enough and are always over bet and when beaten it is the jockey`s fault. In 2017 Ballydoyle won an amazing 28 Group 1 races and since then expectation has been off the scale and unfortunately such a performance is unlikely to be replicated.

Yes Ballydoyle, inevitably with a stallion like Galileo, are going to have some very good horses each year but if you back them all there will be more losers than winners. When sadly Galileo departs this planet then I foresee a drop in Ballydoyle`s fortunes despite Aiden`s brilliance as a trainer. If this happens I could see Ryan Moore going free lance and spending more time in England but being replaced I would doubt.

I was a great fan of Joseph O`Brien who achieved so much for a young lad but he was constantly criticised, again because of the expectation placed on Ballydoyle horses.

Incidentally I have only backed one Ballydoyle horse this week because I didn`t think any of them were good enough with the exception of of Circus Maximus but didn`t back because of the apparent openness of the race and it being the first outing for the horse. The result exemplified all the attributes outlined above and a jockey with the skill to deliver.

Sorry for such a long winded response.
