The Grand National apart , I do not watch any racing live nowadays.

I put my bets on , and today sat in the sunshine.

I watch the ITV coverage ,mainly fast forwarding apart from the races......they have even given up showing old races from the vaults.

We were spoilt listening to Lord Oaksey and some top jock describing how a race was going starting the last circuit.

I too was very pleased her majesty had a winner .

To be fair to her Alex is doing a good job on the ATR coverage, much rather her than Chamberlain. Unfortunately though listening to Hayley Moore's robotic voice isn't easy.

Yes, but at least the coverage is centered on the actual horses/form etc, compared to ITV.

agree very much with the last comment though could do without the half furlong delay of live of course but just feel McGrath has no love of ordinary punters and thinks he is head and shoulders above their horse knowledge

Luke Harvey, who was down at the start, said that only TWO stall handlers can be used for loading, when it was always going to be ONE leading in with the bridle and TWO at the backside (one either side with the grab handle),which makes THREE  Luke for the more difficult leaders.

Sky is mostly for those of us who follow racing. ITV is still trying to attract those who are new to the game, and are aiming for a wider, and downmarket, audience, which is really ITV in a nutshell.

I can’t imagine many non horse racing folk watching Royal Ascot this year. I will be interested to know what ITV’s viewing figures are.

To be fair to ITV (not something that comes naturally) the actual race coverage has been much improved. There has been a noticeable reduction in the amount of inappropriate close-ups that normally detract from the viewers ability to see what is going on. They seem to have made a conscious decision to keep all of the horses in shot nearly all of the time and what a refreshing change it has been.

The cynic in me wonders if the fact that ITV are providing pictures to other countries is the cause of this. It will be interesting to see next week if they revert to type and go for "arty" shots or keep to this welcome new style.
