Horseracing in Britain is scheduled to return with an eight-race card on the all-weather at Newcastle on Monday June 1, according to the BHA's initial schedule for the resumption of the sport, which was released on Thursday evening.
The schedule details all the races and meetings for the first eight days when the sport returns with the action continuing from Newcastle and Kempton on Tuesday. Kempton will also be racing on Wednesday, where it hosts the rearranged Classic Trial – which will become the first Group race since the shutdown of the sport. |

1.46 now from 1.22..layers presumably hoping for a spike in the next 10 days.
|
By:
ive got employment at newcastle as security consultant, have done for last 2 mths,so will be in attendance.
|
By:
Aye
They'd need more than a spike, think they'd need a 2nd wave. They all want it to go ahead, government and racing bodies. Seen worse 1.4 shots |
By:
The press release also confirmed changes to handicap measures. A horse will be eligible for a rating if they win and race again or if they finish in the first six in two starts. The BHA handicapping team will now be assigning ratings to horses that have already met this criteria.
any thoughts? |

Best track in the country. In runing layers 2 furlongs out.
|
By:
Worst AW track without a shadow of a doubt.
|

So the BHA has had the best part of three months to come up with a plan to get racing back on the road.
A glorious opportunity to put on a show and they choose fecking Newcastle. Embarrassing. |
By:
....and still we have to wait and see the speeded up I/R pics
Just more filth at a filth track |
By:
Just remember the old saying, "A week is a long time in politics."
|
By:
To be fair Johnny, if they were looking for the track with the most experience of racing without a crowd, Newcastle would be top of the list.

three day meet hq will be good

Isn't nearby Gateshead a virus hot spot ? This was on the BBC news website :
Newcastle and Gateshead councils fear the coronavirus lockdown has been eased too soon and that the new message is confusing. Gateshead Council said it would be sticking to the previous "stay at home" directive still being used in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Labour leader Martin Gannon said the new measures would have "consequences". "We do not have the same legislative powers as Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland in the North East, but if we did I would be doing exactly the same as what they are doing and staying with the lockdown." The changes to the lockdown could result in another peak in the virus, he said. |
By:
They are left wing labour councils and you wouldn't expect anything else other than a criticism of tory policy.
|
By:
probably be sticking to the rail down the back to stay as far away from Gateshead as they can ...
|

just been to b&q for a wheelbarrow.

London 'virus-free in TWO WEEKS': Just 24 new cases a day are recorded in the capital and it could be eradicated there by June raising hopes lockdown could be eased
London has recorded just 24 new daily coronavirus cases and has the lowest 'reproduction' rate in England The city's R rate of 0.4 means the outbreak is currently shrinking quickly with cases halving every 3.5 days |
By:
They have only started packing like sardines in underground trains this week. Anyway more will die with lockdown so if increased numbers of carehome , diabetes/overweight , already ill deaths lesser bad outcome imo.
|
By:
its a model, london hasn't just recorded 24 cases in a day,at least read the form book correctly, and if it were true it would be 10 today
|
By:
willies high risk (due to his age). be putting the nhs under pressure if he goes anywhere near a racetrack this side of xmas ..
|
By:
willies prob fitter than 90% in the forum.
|
By:
i don't make the rules. a willingness to risk your life in order to win a few quid would perhaps hint at a gambling problem.
|
By:
Over 60's shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a race track for 6 months imo
|
By:
Can we assume that those who believe we should be lockdown until there is a vaccine will not participate in racing's return?
