6.30 race Saturday night.  5f 21 yards.   Not possible from a standing start with horses of that class is it ?   These were the splits Sky put on screen.  9.65/ 10.82/ 11.57/ 11.70/ 12.44  which adds up to 55.18.  Time for race ( official )  1m 1.08 sec    That would mean they took 5.90 secs for the 21 yards.  Sky got their numbers wrong ? Any ideas ?

I'd guess the problem is that they are perhaps timing the leading horse for each furlong (which might change)? eg in that race the initial leader was perhaps fast away and as the winner was held up that's a couple of seconds right away as the official race time is the winners time.

Yes thanks Dave. That was a big difference in that race as the first and second were not on the burn-up and were last on the turn. Haven't seen 9.65 for a leader before at Wolves whatever  happens  later.

Even Pegasus couldn't do 9.65 from a standing start, timing to c0ck.

yeah I think it is suspect, so that added to the pace collapse probably explains the 6 sec difference.

Just looked at a race won by A Sure Welcome in early March. They got to the 4f pole  ( so 1f 21 y ) about 2 seconds slower than Saturday's race and sky gave the first furlong at 14.87.  That is over 5 seconds slower than the 9.65. The latter must be wrong imo.

When it comes to sectionals we are still in the dark ages in Britain!

Yes it's bad enough putting wrong figures up during the race but there's nobody to pick up on it after the race.

ATR site gives the 2 leaders doing 14.5 secs to the 4f pole. The winner 15.4.

Also, I think the world record for a quarter horse for 1 furlong from a standing start is 11.49 secs, and a thoroughbred would be slower for that test.

Thanks ged.  The figures between furlong markers are different for the leader too. How accurate are these live splits ? Do they often differ from the atr final analysis ?
