what has happened with josaphine  no winner for 37 days  only getting the odd mount on rags  remember couple of years ago  mounts in nearly every race when she was at a meeting and over 100 winners in 2017  be lucky to get 100 mounts under 20/1 this year

Strange situation . You would think that anyone who rides 100 winners in a season has established their credentials and if they have a competent agent they should continue to get plenty of rides and winners. I can only guess that JG must have wrong-footed herself through something she said or did. Would be a shame if her career stalled just as it was getting going.

bryony is genuinely a good jockey and a great person

josephine is shagging gay kelleway* on the sly so is more interested in munching rug than riding winners

From July 2016.

If tenacity, determination and a refusal to accept that the odds are stacked against you are essential equipment for an apprentice jockey, then Josephine Gordon is fully equipped for the job.

The 23-year-old from Devon has been the riding find of the year. Having been leading apprentice for the winter All-Weather season, she is now giving hot favourite and reigning champion Tom Marquand a run for his money in the championship race for up-and-coming riders during the summer Turf campaign.

Gordon rode her 22nd winner of the Turf season and 39th of the year on Cold Fusion at Newmarket on Friday and trails Marquand by only three winners, with the pair split by Joe Doyle on 23 winners.

If she could lift the title she would emulate Amy Ryan (2012) and Hayley Turner (2005), Britain’s most successful female Flat jockey who retired last year but is coming back to ride for the Girls’ team in the Shergar Cup at Ascot on August 6.

Ironically, Gordon’s win on Cold Fusion came in the race in which Turner made her competitive comeback. ‘When I look at Josephine, she’s much better than I was at the same stage of my career, she’s really good,’ said Turner, nominating her as the most likely current jockey to emulate her achievements.

Gordon’s tally includes wins for Hugo Palmer and Sir Michael Stoute but not so long ago, riding a winner for one of the country’s top trainers would have seemed a million miles away. Her first 60 rides yielded a solitary success and there was an 18-month gap between that and her second victory.

Little wonder Gordon almost turned her back on trying to become a jockey — twice. First when her initial job did not yield rides and then when she felt that progress had failed to materialise.

‘I gave up for a few weeks,’ she said. ‘I went back to Devon to decide what I was going to do. I was looking at jobs abroad, not race riding, just galloping racehorses. But I just thought I had to give it one more chance, otherwise I’d regret it.

‘That’s when I got in touch with Lambourn trainer Stan Moore and said, “I want it but it’s up to you to you give me rides”. We got along and he threw everything my way.’

Gordon pinpoints three wins on Moore’s The Burnham Mare last year as a turning point. She said: ‘It got my name out there. A few other trainers like David Evans picked up on me and others followed.’

Now she can even look back on the testing times as a positive. ‘It did get me down but, having now had these winners, I won’t get cocky. I have been in that dark place and I don’t want to go there again.’

At no point did I say that, but what was noted on the day, particularly last time, and stridingedge will remember which thread it was (Andrew's?), was the stinking, rancid drift on the betting that preceded an absolute stinking run. Hth.

Report GEORGE.B April 17, 2019 5:44 PM BST
I'm sure it went out to double figures, cuz it commented on one of the treads (as I said, I think Andrew's, stridingedge may be able to remember, cuz he said it would win back on turf), but obviously it must have come back in a bit.

Whatever, after two runs under Gordon where it finished 6/6 and 7/7, and was virtually pulled up to a walk last time, there was a transformation in its form today.
Report GEORGE.B April 17, 2019 5:54 PM BST
This thread is about Gordon, and I've happened to notice that having finished last on its last 2 runs under Gordon, TS came out today and won under another jockey. This is all fact.
Report sparrow April 17, 2019 6:07 PM BST
So being that the thread is about an alleged decline of form by this jockey I assume you blame the jockey for her past defeats on the horse. Otherwise why not start a thread about the rapid transformation of form by the horse.
Report impossible123 April 17, 2019 8:43 PM BST
It is universally accepted good horses make good jockeys, not the other way round. However, good trainers do not make horses run faster, but bad trainers make good horses run slower.

it was i who started this thread  in no way suggesting josie is in any way riding horses to mirror exchange drifts, what i am saying is that a jockey who rode 106 winners in 2017  has ridden 5 winners in 2019  has one mount between tuesday and saturday this week  has lost position with hugo palmer  has to be a story hats not in public  all the trainers who supplied mounts and winners 2 years ago now dont want to know
