I've had a good run on SkyBet recently, now my account has been suspended pending verification that I am me! I must have been a customer of theirs for 7-8 years, maybe more, funny how when you start doing well they pull this one out of their backside. Their first email wanted me to verify myself by sending them a copy of my passport and birth certificate, complete with bank statement or utility bill. As I pay all my bills online it'd have to be my bank statement. I don't think I'll be doing this, this request is completely ridiculous. Has anyone else had similar issues with SkyBet? Is this just really a way of shutting down my account as I'm doing OK and they don't like that?

I don't see how the birth certificate one would work for everybody, as most women have changed their name at least once in their lifetime, or will they then start demanding every marriage certificate/ deed poll as well? Passport proves identity, bank statement proves address, no idea why they would want more than that?

I had to do that for here.

However I'm sure someone told me that you can tell them to check the electoral register and that is enough.
Report ElGreco101 December 19, 2017 9:06 PM GMT
I'll ask them about the electoral register, cheers. I have no idea where my birth certificate is and don't think I've ever seen it! Hopefully one of my parents have it.

birth certificate is extremely unusual request.  The standard is a government issued photo ID ie passport or driving license plus proof of address which can be a utility bill or government correspondence such as tax code letter.

Tell them to Phuk off.
Deposit £5 via your registered bank card......when that goes through ok, insist that they return your entire funds to your card, as they appear to have no such worries as to your identity when depositing monies.
Should they refuse, threaten....issue .....Court proceedings.
Never, never, never, send copies of such important documents.........electoral register is all they need to verify identity.

I had the same with Betvic.

Had account for donkeys years then won few quid and wanted all the docs they had had years ago, sent a solicitors letter that cost me £25 and it was sorted in a week.

All these sort of problems are led by the traders who take the hump at people winning which god forbid might affect bonuses.

@rseoles the lot of them

Skybet have made two recent requests for my passport. I have not had a bet with them for about 18 months since they withdrew my BOG concession. I have no money in the account. I replied telling them politely to F off and the sent another request a few weeks later.

I had to do that for here.

Never heard of anyone on here having to provide this.  Unless you mean their Sportsbook thing.

When you hurt a bookmaker, they ask for id verification. Same happened to me with Coral and they closed my account owing me money, would you believe?! Personally, no problem yet with Skybet (I'm in the bet £25 a week club) but Stanley and 888 have placed restrictions on my account. I wouldn't mind but I'm only usually a fiver or tenner gambler! Crazy
Report woodmanchester December 20, 2017 12:24 PM GMT
PS I've betted with Coral since 17-y-o. 54 now and not changed address for 25 years. Shower of sh*te, they are! Angry

i had 300 in betd@q and they wouldnt let me withdraw it as the original card was out of date. So im able to deposit with a new card but cant withdraw. They wanted ID emailed in. Duly lost the 300 instead of bothering to do it. They are all scumbags.

betkak did the same to me as TheFear, so I lost the balance £10 at a time backing 50/1 shots while laying them on here. I actually made a profit from the exercise, but it was a pain in the neck to do. Koral have just rejected my request for a refund, so I'm probably in for a torrid time getting it back.

All bookies are now dead to me.

same here i'll bet less with bd now

Betkak are closing their co.uk domain name at the moment and wanted me to withdraw and set up a new account on the com site, as expected they make it such a pain in the ass to withdraw wanting passports etc even though I'd been with them since they started. They're probably the most inept company I've had to deal with so far.
Report hulk23 December 20, 2017 2:26 PM GMT
why would you give them 300 fear ?

ask them for the money, they'll say no then send them a letter before action and they'll send the money over pronto ...
Report woodmanchester December 20, 2017 3:26 PM GMT
I can understand Fear. Lots of aggro but think it would be worth it for 300 snots

I think he means he deliberately lost the money on there and covered the loss elsewhere.
Report TheFear December 20, 2017 3:42 PM GMT
No i lost it on there betting, which is what they hope for? I probably would have laid the same horse on here anywhere but maybe not for 300.
Report Jack Bauer '24' December 20, 2017 3:52 PM GMT
You should have laid an even money fav you fancied and then backed it in Ladbrokes and emailed them to show them you got your money back off them anyway.
