Apparently the low sun made it difficult for him to see the fences - was jumping ok prior though - not the same horse since his injury; the same reason for the fall of Cue Card too (apparently).

He was never travelling. Just before the off the trainer said he hadn't been able to gallop on grass (which he needs) as it has been too firm. If she'd informed punters earlier it wouldn't have been a false favourite. She's lucky she's had this horse. Waste of space.

Autocue, read the racing post, she said all that in there this morning. Have had no idea why he was fav all week anyway, CC should have been but wouldn't have done the winner with counterfeit so a crap day whatever.

Posted on here after the Gold Cup he had too hard a race for a novice and it would ruin the horse. Unfortunately I was right. One Gold Cup or a long career? Connections risked it for the former was it worth it or would he have won the RSA then a couple of Gold Cups in time?

You're entitled to your opinion eric_morris, but Coneygree was an eight year old when he won the GC and had been racing for four years.
Don't horses survive hard races every day of the week?

i watched the race with no financial interest , but the pre race interview with the trainer or was it his wife , who said she spent 20hours a day with him , made me raise an eyebrow ;;; but then to say the horse hadnt galloped on grass this year , made me think ,,, thats strange ,,, is it too much trouble to take to a racecourse to gallop it or borrow a gallop,,, it seemed for a horse of this calibre a bit like corner cutting ,,, with its history i supposed they would explore every edge they could ,,,, i suppose they won a gold cup with similar methods but its not giveing the horse the best of chance is it ,,, unless they know the horse is very fragile and putting in cotton wool is the only way they can get it to the races ,,, but that degree of honesty about the horse might be difficult to admit , i wish the horse and its connections well ,
