He'll definitely have plenty of runners over the next few weeks

Dewhurst, RP Trophy; Champions Day & the Breeders Cup & then there's Hong Kong & even Oz

He'll go close if not beat the original total

I'll buy it,can you get it on CD from Amazon. Happy.

I think AOB will beat Bobby Frankel's record of Gp 1 winners in a season this time. With 4 Gp 1 accumulated over this weekend AOB also has the fav and 2nd fav in the Fillies Mile; 2nd fav Gustav Klimt in the Dewhurst; several fav/2nd fav on Champions Day similarly the Breeders Cup races. In addition to these there are Australia, Hong Kong, Canada, etc, any of which could easily raise at last one Gp 1 winner.
Report Eont October 2, 2017 2:03 PM BST
There are a couple of Group 1 2yo races he wins at least one of each year in France left. I guess he will have at least 10 runners in each.
Report EastLower Gooner October 7, 2017 2:48 PM BST
2 to go...3 for the new record

He's ticking these off easy now.

Report Vubiant October 14, 2017 3:46 PM BST
Maybe I'm mistaken but I always thought thoroughbred racehorses were bred to actually RACE -not hang around stables munching hay. Aidan O'Brien is quite happy to run good class horses more often -brings them along gradually and doesn't give a fig about unbeaten records -witness USNF winning two GR.1s in its 9th and 10th races. He's done it with stunning success for years -truly a Mastercraftsman.
Report impossible123 October 14, 2017 4:20 PM BST
Caravaggio will have a 2nd to none chance of equalling Bobby Frankel's 24 Gp1 wins in a season; Seventh Heaven, Churchill or Winter to break it, but which one?
Report Andrew in Sweden October 15, 2017 8:14 AM BST
AOB will surpass the 24 wins, that's been obvious for a few weeks now, you couldn't get a bet on it, but I suspect none of the above will win, and his best chance on Champions day will be Order of St George

OoSG over 2m and probably on good/good to firm (present official description) going when he'd been beaten over 2.5m on similar going by Big Orange in the Ascot Gold Cup? Yours truly would beg to differ.
Report EastLower Gooner October 15, 2017 9:42 PM BST
Could break it an a bit at Woodbine...Rain Goddess in the EP Taylor and Idaho in the international.

Might be take them on both. Kind of like Johnny Bear in the International
Report firstimevisor October 15, 2017 10:05 PM BST
He's a cert. Could even get to 28. The best of luck to him and I hope he does.

One gripe I have though is this: In 2015 when APOB was chasing Frankel's record, the racing media included his Triumph Hurdle win with Ivanovich Gorbachev in his group 1 total. Fair enough.
But Willie Mullins won 34 Grade 1s in 2015, an astronomical achievement. So why isn't Willie Mullins the record holder ??

Would it not be fantastic and appropriate if Churchill was to break the Bobby Frankel's Gp1 win record in a season? Churchill started the ball rolling.

Coolmore and Ballydoyle - the epitome of racing achievement. Fantastic for AOB.
Report Vubiant October 28, 2017 7:03 PM BST
I'm delighted he goes to the Breeders Cup with the record in the bag so he can shove it up their noses.
Trying to get the record in America could have been tricky -wouldn't put anything past that crowd over there -the world's worst losers,
Report Ramruma October 28, 2017 8:17 PM BST
It is of course a great achievement but somehow I don't care any more now than when Bobby Frankel established the record.

When you look back at AOB's career, you think of the great winners he has trained of the great races, and not just the Derbies and the Arcs but Istabraq's Champion Hurdles. Those are the memories that stir the heart, not the numbers.

O'Brien is the best in the world at what he does but he owes a lot to Galileo who I think has sired 17 out of 26 G1's this season. Out of curiosity anyone know the jockey with the most G1's in a season?
Report hong kong fooey October 29, 2017 9:12 PM GMT
Out of interest, does anyone know the wins to runs
ratio for both trainers in Gr 1s
Report Diff-rent October 30, 2017 7:29 AM GMT
It's great for all involved well done.

But over the years traveling from one place to another has grown naturally easier and would anyone know if there are more G1s in a season compared to say 20 yrs ago when Sir Henry Cecil was on top ?

If this achievement is so important how come no-one knows who topped the table before Bobby Frankel broke the record in 2003?

Listen, that Irish fellow trained 23 in 2001. (Unless I've miscounted.)

A no nonesense ride from Ryan.

I think he might hit 30...
