Best of luck, GEORGE, I'm on the Ginner at 8s.

Good luck saddo, pleased you got the price before St Hugh tipped it!
|
By:
That explains it, would normally have sold at 5 but have been out and missed the chance.

|
By:
You've lost me saddo, Connor?
|
By:
Sorry m8, was watching something else. Kirby obvs, seemed over confident oot the back.
|
By:
I thought he was a bit unlucky, just had to wait briefly for a run around the 2-pole and it was probably the difference between victory and defeat. He threw everything at it, but just ran out of time.

Who Told Jo Jo, 1pt win @ 12-1, 4.00 Wolver
Thursday's pick is a bit on the speculative side, but at a double-figure price a chance is taken on Who Told Jo Jo (formerly trained by Bill Turner), who caught my eye on his debut for Joseph Tuite over 5f at Kempton in early February, when shaping as though worth another attempt at 6f, keeping on well despite having raced keenly at the rear of the field. The Kempton race was just a 6-runner affair, but it did produce a couple of subsequent handicap winners, and given how keenly Who Told Jo Jo raced, perhaps it was no surprise that connections opted to geld him (assuming the RP gelding date info is correct). However, kept to 5f for his next start at Lingfield, he again raced with the choke out, this time on the front end and he failed to see his race out, fading to third, but he still wasn't disgraced given the winner followed up off a 4lb higher mark on his next start. Who Told Jo Jo could do with settling on this step back up to 6f, but with Oisin Murphy taking over in the plate, the handicapper giving him a chance, and from a potentially helpful draw, I've been tempted in, but only for the minimum stake! |

Aragon Knight, 1pt win @ 9-1, 2.55 Lingfield
Inconsistent sort who seems to reserve his best for Lingfield; possibly unlucky not to go close here in early December over 5f when not getting a clear run, and again ran well on his lastest visit here when attempting to make all over today's trip before finishing one length third behind the well handicapped Varsovian. Cheekpieces are tried today and he has a handy draw to work from. Elusive Approach, 1pt win @ 8-1, 9.00 Dundalk 5YO mare who is still a maiden after 12 starts, but Jim Bolger perseveres with her and the mare posted an interesting run on her return from a 4-month break in a maiden she had little chance on winning on ratings, doing plenty from a wide draw under an inexperienced rider but only fading inside the final furlong to finish 5th. That maiden was won by a Godolphin-owned colt who had previously made a promising debut, and the fourth has since boosted the form by winning off a mark of 67. Elusive Approach's mark has been left untouched on 58, and with a better draw to work from this time back in a handicap, she makes a little appeal at 8-1. |

Also 1 pt win double
To hell with it, push the boat out... |
By:
george- don't take this the wrong way, but have you set a finishing date.
good luck btw... |
By:
knot in wood, there are no set dates (though given the title thread, it's unlikely to go beyond Dec 31st!), no obligations, no guarantees of a profit , and I probably won't be posting picks every day, it's just a bit of interest for me when I fancy it!
|
By:
nice one george, you had me there(not hard).
will watch with interest. |
By:
For the purposes of the thread in order to make (hopefully) a better use of the points system rather than just being lazy and sticking a point on everything, today's selections both should have been 2 pt wins to reflect my bit more confidence in their chances.
So both of today's selections are two point wins, Elusive Approach is still 8-1, but I'll have to make do with 7-1 for Aragaon Knight for the other point. The maximum stake for a selection is 10 points or 5 pts EW. |
By:
Well that's two in two days I've managed to nail to the ground.
Hector Crouch, the rider of ARAGON KNIGHT, unplaced, reported that the gelding ran too freely. I think back to 5f for that one |
By:
Good luck George, I do like your threads and write ups and look forward to following this one.

Ta mackies.
A relief to see one run some sort of race after the previous two ran like there was something wrong with them , but only third. Running Totals P/L: -7 0/4 |

Billy's Boots, 1pt win @ 10-1, 4.55 Lingfield
Billy's Boots finished a few places behind current favourite Gnaad late last month over 5 furlongs at Wolver, however, that doesn't tell the whole story as Billy's Boots appeared to be running on well only to find his path blocked inside the final furlong. It could be he was simply closing on weakening rivals having sat off the pace and he may not be guaranteed a similar scenario this time, however, at five times the price of Gnaad, he gets the vote for the minimum stake. He has changed stables since that run, leaving Dean Ivory to join John Jenkins. |
By:
I don't anticipate putting many of these up EW, KC, save the odd one at astronomical odds!
|
By:
thought you might have put your namesake up- excellent george.
|
By:
I didn't realize there was a horse called, Couldn'tpickhisnose!

I did notebook Miracle Garden two starts back, kiw, but fair to say the last run made for painful viewing! I've passed this time, all things considered.
I didn't note EG lto, should I have, iyo? |
By:
You'll have to excuse Skinto, he's just jealous cuz I won the Prem with a bigger total than he did.

It's a free and open forum, no-one is under any obligation to post or take part in competitons, and people are free to come and go as they choose (provided they abide by the forum rules, which I know is something you've had difficulty with!). I ran the AW comp for a few seasons, saw out my final season and gave plenty of notice that I would be leaving, as a result you had a volunteer in place to take over the following season.
As for the naps league, the goal was just to win the top division, once that was done I didn't feel I had to continue on with it for eternity. Hth. |
By:
Miracle Garden is going to win in the near future I think George. Today at 7-2 from that draw though not for me either.
|
By:
I thought exactly the same, mackies, and back up to class 4 but current 8+ looks fair enough.
|
By:
should have collected with billy's boots george.
|
By:
Just watched it, only beaten by a perfect ride today, good spot.
|
By:
Got the bit right regarding the fav after what happened at Wolver, but some fecking pesky rag had to do me, so as Willo might say, the operation was a success but unfortunately the patient died
The return of the Irish turf tomoz and Fahey and Hanagan will be there. Looks like it's gonna be testing ground, |

I doubt I'll be making a selection tomorrow, but my loyal follower will be pleased to know that I am going to suggest a crackpot Unlucky 15 on the Naas card. They're not notebook horses or horses I fancy, just something I've noticed on the card that may have an angle in. Tune in later and all will be revealed
