Le Manege Enchante, 1 pt win @ 8-1, 7.15 Wolverhampton
Le Manege Enchante has given the impression that 6f may eke out a bit more improvement, and although he has yet to place in 3 attempts at the trip, one attempt came in class 2 company and the latest when returning from a 3 month break (kept on well, beaten just over 2l). He could do with a pace to run at, which is guaranteed here, and it has to be said he didn't impress with how he was wanting to lug left on his latest run, but this race doesn't look any stronger (though he is one or two pound 'wrong' with a couple of these), and if coming on for that recent return to action, hopefully he can be competitive against this opposition. |

Good luck with STR, saddo. Well at least the stable seem to be in a bit of form with that old hound Picansort doing a half-decent impersonation of Frankel the other day.

I know what the thread title says, but I'm having 2 picks today!
Christy's Call, 1 pt EW @ 16-1, 9.00 Dundalk We've been told a few times that trainer Gavin Cromwell is really a farrier, but he's not doing too badly at the former, improving the ex-Micky Halford trained Political Policy by over 20lb to win a few times, and recently training a Grade 1 winner over hurdles. Christy's Call is a horse that has been in GC's care since 2013 and one he was won 3 times with at Dundalk. CC has often had rotten luck with the draw - drawn in double figures on 5 of his last 6 starts - but no complaints on that front this evening, and his run 3 starts back when runner-up to one of Denis Hogan's that landed a hefty gamble, showed he still has races in him. There are a couple of concerns this evening - firstly the 12f trip which he has never won over, but does seem to stay as the aforementioned run suggests, and secondly the 7 week break. CC is now 4lb below his last winning mark, and a chance is taken at decent odds, in the hope he is ready to roll after his absence. |

Price has halved since your post George!
STR will surely be aimed at the Dash and he will need a win or two get in, may be a great call Saddo. Langley Vale interests me today at a price although my enthusiasm is tempered by the draw and the well handicapped favourite Good luck with yours |

Good luck mackies.
He was pretty much 10-1 across the board late last night when I first looked, but tiredness had set in and I left it til this morning to do me little write up |
By:
* That's to say there was obviously already a move for the horse, rather than his price moving cuz I've happened to guess at him
|

Good call mackies, well done

It's actually the stable mate I put up George in the 4.55, but Ive done a multiple which includes Berkeley Vale as well so a nice start nonetheless!
|
By:
Well they've both off for exactly 203 days, so lets hope that's a good omen for yours
|
By:
In that case, the well done still stands

Saturday's guess
Mobsta, 1 pt EW @ 14-1, 3.20 Doncaster Mobsta did not reappear until September last season, running 5 times, winning on the fourth occasion in a little conditions race at HQ, and then catching the eye in a Listed race won by today's opponent Jack Dexter on the final day of the season over today's C/D, being continuously denied a clear run and seemingly finishing the race with running left him in. The impression I got was that he would have gone close to winning with any luck, but as that would have been a career-best effort by some way, where did the improvement come from? The most plausible answer would appear to be that he was simply handling the testing ground better than most, and being drawn low, as he was, seemed an advantage on the day. So there are reasons to be cautious about the run, but he remains lightly raced, his stable has been in fine form, and although the ground is unlikely to be as testing, a chance is taken on him at double figure odds with SDS taking over (finished second on sole ride on the horse). |

With both of today's selections, fitness and ability to handle the ground have to be taken on trust.
Properus, 1pt EW @ 12-1, 1.50 Doncaster Properus made an encouraging reappearance as a 3YO when running on strongly to finish second in a competitive Newmarket handicap last April, therefore it was most disappointing that he failed to progress in 3 subsequent starts, particularly as the way he shaped that day and his pedigree (half-brother to a 10f HK winner by Acclamation) had suggested a step up in trip would be in his favour. He was moved out of William Haggas's yard before his final start, and although he wasn't disgraced on his debut for Keith Dalgliesh, it was still well below the HQ form. It should be pointed out that Newmarket run was on good to firm but he has won on soft (albeit a weak maiden). He has been gelded since last season, and the fact his best run last year came fresh may mean a 5 month break is a positive, and interesting to see how he progesses (or regresses) for KD, though given the yard market support would be encouraging. Zhukova, 1pt EW @ 16-1, 4.25 Curragh Found will obviously be tough to beat if ready to go on her reappearance, but with bigger targets ahead she may understably not be at fever pitch today. With that in mind, a chance is taken on Zhukova. She has raced only four times to date, all as a 3Y0, being quite an eye-catcher on her debut at Fairyhouse last May, and going on to win a Listed race at Galway on her final start. The bare form leaves her with enough to find against some of these, but she is quite a sizable filly who may well have further improvement in her as she matures, and while today's ground is a query, it is encouraging fitness-wise that her stable have yet again hit the ground running. |
By:
I thought Properus might've went on last season after his opening run especially with a bit of give and the way the form's worked out can't resist a little bet today at the prices, agree a bit on course support would be encouraging. The owner has held on to the horse which is another possible glimmer if not today might be still worth watching.
|
By:
Despite having raced only 7 times, the horse has already had 3 trainers, so I'm kinda hoping KD will have it ready for fear of losing it!

Balanced Approach 5.25 Curr 10/1 ran in a nice maiden @ Leop and under anice hands and heels ride got a nice education , extra distance in his favour as well..

Nice winner yesterday George with Mobsta, well done.
I've gone for a couple in the 1st race today, Boots and Spurs, fit from the AW at Southwell and good soft ground form here, esp when 2nd to Educate in the Spring mile in 2013. 16/1 EW looks a bit of value imo with a saver On Last years winner Johnnny Cavagin, 2nd previous year also on soft with 1st time out figures since a 3yo off 1121. Good luck. |

WD yesterday George, lovely start to the season.
