Bets not appearing, then appearing twice, then can't cancel them, yet bets still available for others to match.

I had same problem, logged out and in again and was able to cancel bets.

I kept placing the same bet, not realising the stake kept going from my account, and like you said the bets were there waiting for someone, could have been expensive.

Same thing happens if you attempt to place another bet after logging out and in again.
Best to log off the exchange completely now. Which is exactly what Paddy Power want, of course. |

If you're in doubt as to whether the bet's been placed, doesn't it show in "My account" - Current - Matched?
