I don't follow breeding very much, but this one's stuck in my mind as a well named horse.....Hattie Jacques, out of Sixties Icon and Funny Girl.

The Queen puts some thought into her names.  Her Mustard is by Motivator out of Flash of Gold,  and Bold Sniper is out of Daring Aim.

Has to be Now We Know. Great name for a horse especially when he won his point @10s after working brilliantly with the 130 rated chaser Seek The Faith. We looked at each other and simply said....NWK

She does Blackbarn, still dont get the mustard from the breeding, im probably stupid and missing something.

I don't remember a Roger Charlton filly but Boast had a Duke of Marmalade filly in training with John Gosden called Toast of the Town, which is pretty clever.

Not a favourite name, but a clever name: Cleavage, a mare by Hillandale out of Divided.

She was owned and named by Toby Balding's wife, who claimed she chose the name because she hoped one day to hear a commentator call Mrs Balding's Cleavage out in front.

My two most favourite named horses date back to the mid 50s

both were handicappers the 1st was named Tintinnabulam trained

by Towser Gosden the 2nd was named Gudmenaremist I cannot

recollect who trained that one.  Both these animals won me in

those days what I as a youngster considered packets, one famous

day in a novice hurdle at Sandown Gudmenaremist won at 25s the

next day I went out and bought a brand new Ford V8 Pilot.

Happy days now long gone.Best of luck to all.

Horse names that i really prefer were the old fashioned easy to remember and allocate to a horse and its form etc. Such as
Frenchmans Cove,Brantridge Farmer,Highland Wedding,Sea Pigeon,Easby Abbey etc.
Really can't stand these arabic named horses that begin with M or T, really can't differentiate between them or remember which were top sprinters and which were mediocre horses, such as Muttawaful, Muthafaakir, and any other mutters!
Personally wouldn't care less if they took all their horses off to dubai and left them there!

Falls of Cruachan. Always reminds me of racing when I enjoyed it most.

Also reminds me of a time when scum was a thing found on the side of the bath and not on the streets. When only men drank pints and four letter words were confined to barracks! When people chose to work rather than sponge any which way they could. When children went to school at 9am and only exited at 4pm. You could put a point of view across without some inbreed, hiding behind keyboard anonimity, hurling abuse at you. When kids were generally a normal healthy size and not of Blue Whale proportions. When women looked like women and not some R101 in tights!  When you could watch TV without some slobbering imbeciles re-enacting a scene from a brothel.

   Anyway, rant over.  Cue the clowns!

Henry Candy used to have a sprinter called Rough Love. She lost her mother at birth - hence the name. I think she might have gone on to win one of the big Ripon spint handicaps.

Mr Tambourine Man and Mr Baxter Basics are two of my favourite horse names of all time. anyone else remember these two horses?

Gembridge Jupiter. A superb chaser trained by (Chris Trietline?). Something of a standing dish at Stratford in his pomp and won a race at the Aintree National Meeting iirc.

LLamedos. There was also a house of that name in Kingston on Thames. It was at a bus stop and it took me a while to get it.

National winner Shelia's Cottage. In Edinburgh they used to have an old bus named that it had been converted into toilets and was parked under the Castle in Johnston Terrace for use during the Tattoo.

First Service sired by Blushing Groom out of a mare called Tournament Player.  Brilliantly named horse who unfortunately was pretty useless though ran in late 80's or early 90's.

EasterEEL, Kalaglow and Storm Bird are some of my favourites.

Anyone remember SPUNKY?  Used to make me smile when commentator said "and here comes spunky"
