fact was there any mention of the latest impending threat to the on-course books the 'betfair google glasses' whereby I can scan every single market through a pair of glasses via internet connectivity..... yes I couldn't believe it either when I saw them, apparently they will be handed out at all racecourse entrances in the very near future as part of an advertising promo.....

when the marketing fee was put in place one would have reasonably  thought it meant a marketing fee to promote the on-course market rather than promote any other alternative betting operator going....

Of course genuine bookmakers are against pitch renting.
The toothless AGT seem reluctant  to do anything to stop it.
The easy way to monitor whether the pitch is being rented is the betting ring manager to check if the **** exchange is the in the pitch holders name or in the name of the renter.
If it is the latter then the renter should be stood down.
One of the other questions regarded the imposition of each way terms.
In my opinion not one extra punter has been attracted to the track.

Well lets fill it in and see what the NAB do with this. They have to start somewhere.

RR,NO MENTION OF EXCHANGES WHATSOEVER,NO MENTION OF THE OUTRAGEOUS MARKETING FEES,SCHEDULE Y ABUSE,OR BOOKMAKERS WITH 3 OR MORE PICS IN ONE RING,THE ONLY PLUS I CAN TAKE FROM THIS QUESTIONNAIRE IS THAT THE ILLUMINATI ARE AT LEAST ASKING THE RANK AND FILE FOR THEIR OPINIONS(WHICH IS A STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION)EVEN THOUGH THE QUESTIONS ARE MOSTLY IRRELEVANT!

as you say fact consulting the Rank & File is good, but progress is far too slow and this should have been done years ago.... time is short and the latest development of all racecourses putting Wifi in and then punters being able to bet through a pair of glasses is quite simply mindblowing if all works according to plan...... Although you might not agree with everything he says the only hope is to get somebody fit for purpose to provide a voice whom has his finger firmly on the pusle Mr Banks is the man

perhaps the next questionnaire will ask for everyone's views on the make up of the FRB , the vast wages of the secretary , the meeting attendance payments , directors remuneration and other fees and expenses that make up the massive 15% or so that was deducted from everyone's SIS and TURF TV payments .

why not adge happens in any other walk of life plc shareholder meetings / Building Society AGM,  it would be one small step in the modernisation process.....  Bigger steps could then be tackled

It would have been better if the questions were resolutions and thereby binding depending on votes e.g. if majority replying says no to pitch renting then the NAB should adopt that principle.

Would also be better if they emailed and responses could be emailed back - would be more efficient and would save a few hundred quid on postage.

Davy there seems to be a growing sea of the same opinion, I think you must come to the conclusion that it suits certain people to remain stuck in the 19th century.... therein lies the problem how can the ring possibly survive in the 21st century when those whom seem to be making the decisions binding on the majority (without the majorities say) are stuck in the 19th century.....

Electronic replies can be made.
The address is on the Northern BPA forum.
If you aren't a member you must ask the NAB or your own Association for the address.

By:

answers and views are clearcut and over 25% of all bookmakers took their time to respond. this percentage may seem low to some but is actually quite a high percentage in terms of what is normal with such surveys.
ask me on the racecourse bbc2 , it's not hush hush . but an open forum is not the place

The short answer was that there was very substantial opposition to pitch linking and strong support for the new each way terms.

On a good note good to see New market reducing badge fee for music night to 3x in one instance, the benefit of local relations with the track and they obviously feel that they way forward which without doubt it is..... perhaps Sandown could consider the same which was very poor last night

Important to look forward Flash and the upcoming challenges the good old days that many knew are gone for good no good looking behind harping back to the past , move on it's all about trying to be as competitive as you can against your competitors which lets face it now is this place and not those in the ring....

Fact Haven't you read the book how to kill the on-course game in 24 months?  Half way to mission accomplanished, most don't even realise they doing it every pound a prisoner to the machine and think trying to shaft their remaining customers as much as they can is the way forward.... strange business model
