If Harry and the "Mob" win the Scoop 6,they might break even. They made it easy for harry in the past. BUT NOT ANYMORE.CryCryCry
Report Outpost May 17, 2014 9:37 AM BST
we need 6 favs to come in and 2000 winners to share the pot.

that way the payout will only be about one hundreth of their stake.

Why people have to have a pop at Harry just comes down to the fact they are jealous of what hes done in the past. bet they would like to have owned a gold cup winner and the guy has looked after plenty of people as well as under privileged kids.Get a life

With the big syndicates do they just stake the same on each line? For example, lets say 6x6x6x6x6x6 * £2 = £93,312 or is it more nuanced? The reason I ask is it seems counter intuitive to have the same on a line with 6 rags as 6 favourites. I suppose the £2 unit stake makes it much more difficult to do otherwise.

Report ReaseHeath May 17, 2014 10:07 PM BST
might be theoretically possible to buy the pool next week (or soon anyway if it keeps rolling over) depending on the number of runners/perms and the amount of 'new' money that goes in.

Would have cost £9.3m to do so today.

Problem is, of course, that if one of the syndicates want to go down that road, they're relying on nobody else finding the wiiners so that they don't have to share it.
Report Fashion Fever May 17, 2014 10:42 PM BST

Thought he was a great tennis aficionado in the Agassi era. Be interesting when he writes his memoir's. All this carping on here and petty jealousy. Life we'd all want if we could do it. Suspect Harry has got more brains and balls than most on here.
Report Ramruma May 18, 2014 10:24 AM BST
Be interesting when he writes his memoir's

His autobiography was due some time ago, ghost-written by an RP journo. Since it has not appeared, one imagines Harry has had second thoughts, perhaps due to the BHA ban over laying and the fallout from that.
Report Outpost May 18, 2014 11:35 AM BST
he might also have confessed in his autobiography to where his money came from and there will be several people (and one public  company) not too keen on that being revealed.
Report dunlaying May 18, 2014 11:59 AM BST
He had a betting shop at one time;he opened it in partnership with a young chap who knew very little about the business.
Findlay and Bowler Turf Accountants. After six weeks came the fateful day when short priced favourites were being returned at ridiculously inflated odds. The shops were being slaughtered but the course layers kept knocking the prices out and the favoured selections kept winning.
Harry, being a shrewdie ,took them all on. That evening he left town and in so doing left young Bowler in the khaki stuff.
1983 and I think one of the horses was trained by the late Sir Henry, ridden by Lester and owned by Mr St George, perhaps it was called Sing Softly.
Report dunlaying May 18, 2014 12:03 PM BST
Some four years later Harry made a comeback. I believe he made a killing on a football bet. Not being interested in the game at all I cannot tell you what the bet was but I think it was something to do with Arsenal.
Report dunlaying May 18, 2014 12:26 PM BST
If you live in High Wycombe you may know the shop. It was situated on the left corner of the junction of a road that goes from Downley to Hughendon Road, going between Broom and Wade and Harrison De La Rue. An old Alf Freeman business it had some other colourful owners and was once run by a certain Leslie Spencer.I doubt it was THE L Spencer.
