I'm already doing one on the football thread for the R Post's Kevin Pullein, and will start one for the Daily Mirror's bet of the day. I won't put up the horses in advance - that's up to you if you want to put them up in separate threads. (The horses are available from 8pm the previous night for R Post ipad subscribers).

I'll just do profit and loss at the recommended prices, though obviously many won't get on at those prices (if I see a Rule 4 for non-runners I'll mention that too, fingers crossed).

joe39: I backed Harpsy Cord at a big price in the Grade A handicap chase at Fairyhouse on Sunday 19 January and seem to remember PW putting up Competitive Edge for that race - it ran second at 7/2fav. I don't have the RP from that day so can't look it up. Have you missed that one, or is my memory at fault?

I didn't include that one because that was Tom's regular Sunday column, and I didn't see the "P/Wise" logo on it, so didn't treat it as such (although of course I may have made a mistake).

joe39: It was put up at a price and somewhat higher than the SP, although there would have been a rule 4. I hate the PW column as it gives me an added problem getting on - even to my modest stakes - if Tom Segal puts up what I'm wanting to back.

Pricewise my @rse....should be evaluated at either SP or the 'amended' best price that you can actually get on after the mythical price has gone. Hope his ante-post Cheltenham picks are better than last years portfolio of non-runners. Didn't tip a winner at Royal Ascot or Goodwood either, two of biggest flat meetings and no winners! No doubt some will still claim they get on all the winners at advertised prices.
Nowt against Tom or Hugh, they are good winner finders but their columns are pointless, due to inability to secure the prices they put up (these don't exist as soon as either tips them) but merely advertising pap for the RP and ATR site. They are like a kind of Schrodinger's Cat except the cat is always dead when you open the box! |
