If they can get the Smiths then Daly and this horse should be looking at a lengthy ban. Third favourite never put in the race. Blatant schooling in public.

have to agree with OP. If you backed Daly's horse, you knew you were finished when it crossed the starting line 20 lengths behind the slowcoach of a pacemaker. Even if was the best horse in the race, could never have won. Do Daly / Johnson think that was funny or something?

Think the stewards should have had plenty in for not lining up somewhere near the tape, joke of a race

the horse as plenty of potential, but at the moment its just a fruitcake, did you see hit before the race.
they are trying to get the horse to settle, will just run hit self into the ground otherwise.

the biggest non jigger in that race was at the front.
just my opinion.

I think the Smiths and Jonathan England thought the same with their horse the other week for which  jock got 14 days (?) and trainer a fine.

This was far, far worse.

On the point of holding up a horse up to get it to settle. If this had been a five horse race, would Johnson have still started 20 lengths behind the start line and the other "four" runners?

If you don't teach your horse to settle at home, then sending it to the racecourse to do it instead is nothing more than schooling in public imo .... and a contravention of the rules of racing

The start of this race was almost as disgraceful as the 2m handicap hurdle on the same card. If it happened in any other sport there would be a riot. Accepting that jockeys should be permitted to intentionally concede 20-30 cheap lengths puts the BHA and the officials of the sport to shame. It happens regularly and it is helping to make Racing a laughing stock.

The stewards have used their annual give out a ban to make us look like we are doing something and justify their wage. Another one will be due around February in the lead up to the festival to hit the headlines and again make them look like they are policing horse racing and trainers properly Crazy

Wonder if it will be Jonjo who feels the force of the stewards next time LaughExcitedCrazy

Henry Daly was interviewed before the race and made no reference at all to the horse being problematical. Basically talked him up and suggested he was a 3m chaser in the making. Nobody knows what would have happened if they had tried to settle the horse in front rather than 30 lengths off the leaders in a slowly run race. One things for sure it couldn't have been any worse. Doubt the horse derived any benefit whatsoever from yesterday's exercise. The bottom line is the horse went off 6/1 (from 12/1) and punters literally had no run for their money. If the horse has so many kinks that he has to perform like that then he shouldn't be anywhere near a racecourse. Where would the game be if every third favourite was allowed to run in that manner? Yes, it was a million times worse than the Sue Smith runner.

Yes, he is reported to have finished distressed. What exactly does that change about the way he was ridden? Was he distressed before the start, a couple of yards after the start? Fact is Richard Johnson didn't pull him up so I think we can take it to be of zero relevance to the thread.

what really is the point off stewarding they never enforce the rules .a trainter just needs to shrug his shoulders and say no ides why is ran badly never gave  me a great feel , this will be exepted as per , going through the motions ,but no bottle i.m.o they need to start acting like headmasters ,instead off little scared school boys ,get back to the days were graham bradley was banned ,that wd stop them in their tracks !

Sue Smith soon learnt from last time yesterday

2.20, fifth race

The Stewards considered the running of NEXT HIGHT (IRE), ridden by Ryan Mania and trained by Sue Smith, which finished unplaced. They noted the trainer could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance.

Racing post - Henry Daly reported that Go West Young Man finished distressed.

Apparently horse was balling his eyes out that been sent all the way down to Huntingdon in a horsebox and given no chance of winning. Needed therapy from a counsellor this morning
