I have posted some obscure trivia on here over the years, but this one takes irrelevance to hitherto unheard of heights ( or is that depths?) ....
Syd Dale started training 5 miles from Gary Moore's Woodingdean yard. Syd trained Plummers Plain to win the Whitbread. Plummers Plain is a village less than one mile from Gary's current Lower Beeding yard.
Remember where you heard it

Carrod's intial was L, but I don't know what it stood for.
He trained the 4th horse in the 1974 Cheltenham Trial Hurdle (which became the 'Bula', before being bastardized). The first 3 were Comedy Of Errors, Lanzarote, and Attivo. (There were only 4 runners, and Mr Carrod's horse started at 200/1).

Hi Cork. This might help with research on the older ones, even though does not provide answers. The source is Copes Encyclopaedia from 1960/1961/1962(last year) and Tote Racing Annual from 1965(1st after the war)and 1966. The Cope's gives telephone numbers if you want them but neither volume gives Christian names.
I have listed the entries as they exist in these volumes along with the year they appear. The ones left blank do not appear in any volume as a trainer.

TONY Jarvis, who raced Comedy Of Errors on the Flat before selling the 1975 Champion Hurdle winner to Fred and Mercy Rimell, has died at the age of 83, writes Graham Green.
Jarvis, who was chief veterinary officer at Ludlow and Hereford racecourses for many years, bought Comedy of Errors as a yearling and put him into training with the late Tom Corrie near Telford, Shropshire.
He was rewarded with two successes before he struck a deal with the Rimells for the then four-year-old.
Jarvis, who owned other less distinguished racehorses, specialised in equine matters, and from his Shropshire practice catered for the needs of
13 small racing stables in the county.
He was so devoted to his work at Ludlow and Hereford that he worked at the two tracks until he was 75-and would have continued, had not a chance remark reminded the authorities that the official retirement age was 70.
