why have they left a gap between the rail and the hurdle so the horse can try to run through the gap

i cant for the life of me think why you would leave a gap inbetween fence and rail.what is the reasoning behind it anyone ?

its such a easy fix though,just run the fence up to the rail.problem solved.

Presumably it is to let loose horses get through without interfering with the runners? Jockeys might try to keep to the inner half of the flight in future.

the last hurdle used to be in the middle of the track with a big gap to the rail,the cretins have moved it towards the rail but still left a gap,beyond belief.still silver lining i was on bach on tow.
