7-20 albonny , could be punted today ,up 4f to 2 miles ,low grade rubbish and no form to speak of ,the yard punted one off the boards yesterday before being pulled and had a winner (20s) which was also stepped up in trip on sunday . guesswork really but a cheeky tenner could pay for a couple of rounds of golf

Exactly Nige, wish i had done, looks like i may be staying in now as the wind is now starting to pick up too, i dont mind the rain but wind kills golf for me. Will keep an eye for yours too
I see Sooty has now blocked/unblocked/blocked/unblocked/blocked/unblocked/blocked and finally unblocked me......how he has time to answer his ever ringing phone is beyond me.

I live quite close to the sea so wind is usually a factor no matter what the weather is like. Even the course i played on yesterday which is 2miles inland had wind affected holes! I hate the wind as i tend to hit the ball quite high so not ideal!!!

Yeah, remember playing Perranporth down near Newquay last year, had a par 5 where i took driver. Course guide said the path running across the fairway was about 180 to clear, i nailed my drive and was 60 short of it!
Its fine wind behind, but against is a killer

I have a 21Deg hybrid which i use instead of the 3 & 5wood's and i tend to keep that one quite low (with a centre stance). Its my driver and Irons which fly quite high.

I was brought up on seaside courses, Nige, so i've always had the knack to hit the ball low.
I used to play lots of irons off the back foot, knocking them down under the wind. The clubs these days are designed to get the ball airborn, try some old blades
As for the driver, mines a 6.5 degree..

I only found out 2months ago that my old driver was non conforming(Callaway Great Big Bertha II+), so had to get a replacement ( Went for another Callaway, square faced draw driver).
I will pop down the range on friday and try out what you have suggested Guinness as i am playing mostly on links type courses these days.
