A belated Happy New Year to all my friends and foes on the forum.

I have returned in my quest to help the needy (and the greedy) on the forum.

Throughout 2012 I will be putting up backs, lays and each-way bets.

As before each bet will carry a liability of £1000.

For profit & loss purposes all bets will be settled at Betfair SP and listed for all to view on this thread.

As ever a concise and cogent case will be put forward all bets. THERE WILL BE NO GUESSING ON THIS THREAD.

And if I fail to return a profit...Well frankly I will give the game up and retire from the forum in disgrace.

This is to be a thread of goodwill and good karma, so I will appreciate it if those jealous of my past successes such as Ratboy, Troutface and Blooperman, would be kind enough to keep away.

For now I will leave you with this thought to cogitate over -

He who dares, WINS.

Good evening to you all.

Bet number 2

3.00 Lingfield: Waabel to PLACE

Current odds: 1.72

Predicted ROI: 67% PROFIT

*Has now dropped to a stone below his last winning mark and has shaped better in his last 3 runs

*Finishing 3rd 3 runs back and not disgraced last twice when not seen to best effect by being held up

*There does not look to be a lot of pace on in this contest and connections may choose to revert to the more prominent tactics which saw the horse successful twice over c/d last winter

*If able to control the pace from the front, it may suit Waabel better than second favourite Nubar Boy, who seems best when able to finish from off a strong pace.

As previously stated for profit and loss account purposes, £1000 sterling will be wagered on each bet, which will be settled at Betfair SP.

Today's BFSPs -

Trip Switch LAY - 2.38. PROFIT (after 5% commission) - £688

Report Cash_Machine January 29, 2012 11:54 AM GMT
Mr Eck, it is all relative, people should only wager what they can afford and what is within their comfort zone. I see you have chosen £50 units, nothing wrong with that if this is the amount you feel comfortable with.

£1000 is just the nice round figure I have chosen for profit and loss account purposes. I prefer to deal in hard cash rather than a points system.

I am happy to put my bets up on here along with a concise and cogent case, the readers are then free to make their own minds up about what I have written.

Good afternoon to all my friends and foes.

Bet 3

LAY Silver Linnet, 2.40 Wolverhampton

*Everything went her way on her return from 11 months off when the money down

*Got to the front unmolested, slowed things up, before kicking clear and holding on

*Unlikely to be afforded such an easy time of it from her widest draw

*Meets the runner-up on 6lb worse terms and is going to have to work a lot harder to confirm the form

*The betting suggested that was the day that mattered and is returning to the track just 5 days later having been absent 11 months, so the 'bounce' has to be a possibility

Bet 4:

LAY Lionrock, 2.00 Lingfield

Predicted ROI: 60% PROFIT

*Expensive purchase who did not last long with Godolphin.

*May well improve for the switch to Mr Johnston's stable, but will need to, having 14lb and 11lb to find with Boots And Spurs and Fugitive Motel respectively on RPRs.

*Pedigree (damsire Unfuwain, dam 10f winner) raises concerns over the suitability of a sharp 7f

*He is returning from 6 months off and has the outside draw to contend with.

*Australia Fair has an appealing pedigree and won't need to be anything special if tuned up for her debut.

Bet 5:

LAY - Samasana, 2.20 Southwell

Predicted ROI: Approx 40% PROFIT

*Had been beaten in sellers (albeit against subsequent winners) prior to winning her last 2 and just possible she will defy today's mark of 61

*However she meets Pelican Rock on 10lb worse terms for the 1.5L she beat him on her penultimate start and I believe she will struggle to confirm the form

*Pelican Rock was always caught a little wide that day and maybe not best placed when Samasana set sail for home, but was closing on her at the finish and looks open to improvement after just 5 starts

*One suspects with cheekpieces applied to Pelican Rock, Mr Kingscote will be keen not to give the filly too much leeway on this occasion.

*J J Leary is in danger of becoming disappointing, but it is worth noting that the two times he met Samasana the surface was officially riding on the slow side. So in anticipation of the surface riding quicker today and being 5lb better off, maybe he can give Samasana more of a race.

*Not much to recommend the others, though Smart Affair may improve for a break and handicapping having had 3 quick runs in maidens, and Angel Warrior is entitled to come on for his recent return and did show a glimmer of ability in maidens.

*This will be Samasana's 4th run of the month on this testing surface and always the possiblity this may come a little soon.
