Perhaps Harry. I've often thought they should start the race a distance away from the stands, mental first few fences. Not good viewing given the publicity already taken place today. Don't go on twitter....

All it needed was for Chamberpot to say "The fence around the course is to give them privacy"
Just the 4 Fallers if the Racing Post is correct .... 11 Unseated Riders is the worrying statistic.
Have to agree with GI ... That starting point of the race,on todays evidence, is a recipe for disaster.
That needs addressing now,as does the artificial ground these horses are being asked to compete on.
Loosening the top surface of quick ground,It can only happen in this sport,just how dangerous is it?
Another time just 6.62 secs outside standard,"gd/soft,soft in places" is total fabrication.
In my humble opinion,many of these recent changes have just compounded the problem,the course itself must take a share of the responsibility.
Is there a journalist out there prepared to do any comparisons with races like the Beecher earlier in the season ?
Back to the race .... Brilliant result for the North,if that small team can compete,what does it say for some much bigger yards around the country.

The National is the shop window to the public of horse racing.
It is an awful spectacle and does not do our sport justice.
Personally I hate the race and all the races ran over these fences.
