JOCI Club 13 Jun 10 01:37 For me, this is the least interesting TTF competition I can remember for a long time.
Guess you don't have one on 309 points with Mawatheeq and Twice Over to go tomorrow! Both horses were pretty unpopular, so fingers crossed.

No, 258, with Timepiece tomorrow and Age of Aquarius on Thursday.
Joint 1st in the monthly comp at the moment with 158 points.
Our one hope is that we have Showcasing in a lot of lists, so a win for him in the Golden Jubilee would be beneficial.

All last season Canford Cliffs was the horse for me (esp as I live not that far away) and then I manage to talk myself into SNA, Fencingmaster and Pollenator. Goldikova getting the upper hand with Paco Boy.
APOB 3yos struggling.
Poor show by me.

Got one in 16th and another 6 in the top 200. Twice Over would have been a really good result, but wasn't to be. Music Show should see me in the prize money.
Given how many chances I have had to fly up the table,it would be a shame if they all missed :(

LAST year's Group 2 DFS May Hill Stakes winner Pollenator, who finished last of 17 in Wednesday's Sandringham Handicap at Royal Ascot, could have run her last race.
Connections went into this season with high hopes for the Motivator filly, but following a disappointing performance in the StanJames.com 1,000 Guineas and defeat at Newbury, her most recent flop could be the last straw.

Just had a very quick look (literally), and for me key decisions would include (1) whether the group felt that they could get Workforce turned over in at least one and preferably both of the King George and The Arc. The list doesn't have Workforce and those ahead do. For me, including Workforce would be a perfectly feasible defensive move, to ensure the list would lose ground on those ahead, or be surpassed by those currently just behind, who include Workforce (impressive in Derby and potentially still plenty to come). If they felt that Wokforce had done all his scoring (a bold call), then a potential alternative like Harbinger might come into the equation.
(2) the other key horse for me would be Paco Boy. For many, the moral victor of the Queen Anne, there are two bonus races ahead (Sussex and QE11) that could be his for the taking, as my suspicion is he won't come up against the likes of Goldikova in those races. A potential 100 points is not to be sniffed at, and also several of the lists behind have Paco Boy (but the lists in front currently don't).
Of course, none of the above can legislate for the decisions of the owners of the other lists, including those in front, which could mean that whatever couse of action taken by the 3rd placed list could easily be neutralised by the decsions of the owners of the lists in 1st and 2nd place.
The list in 3rd has Rip Van Winkle, who despite it's relatively poor showing first time out, could still end up as a big player in races like the Eclipse.
In short, I'd be keener on more of a defensively minded strategy, plugging any obvious gaps (e.g. Workforce) and then chancing to good fortune that some of my differentiating horses, Sariska, Holberg, Sagacious could do me a few favours.

Seta picked up anhother useful 12 points for our leading list (now 298 pts) and 198 pts for June.
Doesn't have anything in the big race on the weekend though sadly.

Just been looking at this. I've a couple around the 3000th place mark for June. And a few around 4000th overall. But they aren't looking too good.
Careful subs for me me now. But with only 250 in the book, it's not easy to find something that's a bit hidden.

Got 6 on the main leaderboard. Jan Vemeer and Twice Over would probably be ideal, though I have the lot covered in the Eclipse (Twice Over/Zacinto/RVW/Sariska/Dar Re Mi). I guess that means an epic fail is on the cards with some 40/1 no hoper flying home.

I have one in 5th. I really struggled to decide on the subs. I was very tempted to put in both Harbinger and Workforce, but thought it was too defensive, and went for Workforce and Starspangledbanner in the end. I have other combinations of those 3 in the other lists I have in the top 200.
I think the other obvious subs were Twice Over and Canford Cliffs but I have those in most of my top lists.
A big run from Mawatheeq before the end of the season would do wonders for me.
Wish I'd known Ovedose was coming back for some of my lower lists.

Hmm, this problem with the subs isn't making me feel happy. I would like to see how much I need to rely on a Mawatheeq recovery :(
Was Buzzword an option?

Buzzword was in the list of horses, but even if I had known he was running in the Deutches Dervby, I'd have ignored him, as the points for bonus horses do not count until next Saturday. We have him in a single list (that's not doing very well).

Anyone here playing the Racegoers Club version of the flat TTF? Just wondering what the remaining bonus races are. I'll start a new thread if there's any interest.

I actually dabbled with the idea of putting in both Age of Aquarius and Borderlescott, went for Workforce and Harbinger in the end. Lieing 7th overall.

Finished joint 2nd in the July prize. Fencing Master's defeat in Ireland at odds-on last week has made the difference between 1st and 2nd. Hopefully things will go a bit better in the Overall competition.
Princequillo, you're in a good position, best of luck.

The guy who was second in the monthly comp must still be sitting in front of the tv with his jaw on the floor. He had Age of Aquarious for top prize. Goldikova a great start for the August comp for about 8,000 of us JOCI...

Finished joint 4th in the Ebor meeting prize. Getting the feeling it just isn't my season. Top list overall is in 33rd, but I think that's destined to finish just outside the money.

Gutted with Sariska, would have put me third overall. Nice to see Sagacious entered up having changed stables. St Nicholas Abbey wil improve me a few points on those that have ten scorers when he takes the Champion stakes. Guinees form working out quite well and St Nic was really up against it in light of subsequent events. Hoping too that holberg improves for being fresh when he takes in the Irish st Leger, a leger double for Godolphin, think they did that once...I wish.

Gives you chances at least, especially the two less popular horses Holberg and Sagacious. Big ask for St Nic first time out though (does he have a prep planned)?

brought in Stacelita (won the Jean Romanet today) for a crack at the monthly prize. Unfortunately Sariska and Twice Over didn't read the script and the German group 1's Jukebox Jury was supposed to farm are being picked off by Campanologist.
oh well, back to the drawing board.

I'm starting to cast an eye over the jumps now, but also looking to put a few markers down for next year's flat.
Big disappointment this flat and I think I have to learn an important lesson; always go with your gut instinct and don't be persuaded otherwise. The last few years I've spent the winter with a list of must-haves - only to ditch them when I start reading so-called experts opinions in the spring and then find that I've thrown away major point scorers. That hurts far more than if I'd stuck with my own opinions because it's far easier to accept and understand if they fail.
Anyway, I love the jumps and might cough up a major perm which I haven't done since the £5 days.
Any crumbs of hope left for you guys?I'm starting to cast an eye over the jumps now, but also looking to put a few markers down for next year's flat.Big disappointment this flat and I think I have to learn an important lesson; always go with your gut
If you didn't see the race it's worth it just to hear Bartlett's idiocy. Regal Parade passed her with Nicholls rowing away like Steve Redgrave and although Peslier was sat motionless Bartlett declared her beat without hesitation.

RVW is the top 8-10f horse...Goldikova is another who could mop up easy points in fillies races, but against the colts might be 2nd best.
What colts would those be? Goldikova is officially the best miler in the world and of the top milers still in training she's already beaten Zacinto, Delegator and Paco Boy (in the same race that she beat Henrythenavigator). Rip Van Winkle's achieved nothing in comparison to what she's done and as for him being the top 10f horse it would help if he had actually won over the distance.
This girl is comparable to Miesque
hippie - good call. Paco Boy wasn't my worse selection though.

Started really well. I must have had 3 or 4 different lists in the top 20 or so at one time or another. Left with just one list struggling on the bottom of the leaderboard.
It is always hard to get all your best horses in one list, but all the points scored by Cape Blanco in the second half of the season has killed me.

Big hits: Canford Cliffs and Twice Over: was strongly overweight with both. Also had Goldikova, RVW, Fame and Glory and Special Duty, each in loads of lists. After that a whole bunch of underachievers.
Big Misses: Cape Blanco, Workforce (though made up a big chunk of my subs), Harbinger, Starspangledbanner. I remember dleiberately not putting Harbinger and Workforce together when subbing, which doesn't look too bright now!
