Had a decent bet on this today @ 33/1 ...just hope he runs now :)
Cost 430,000 gns and won his first 3 races with M.Johnston last season, now at sprint kings :) bought for 16,000 gns.
He's never actually raced at 6f but his handicap 7f form is top class. Has only been campaigned over 7f and 1 mile (has also ran over 1 mile 2f) so you wouldn't think he'd be a AGC horse but a closer look shows that he's been at the front of his races, at the 6f point in a lot of his recent races. A fast run 6f should be perfect for him, it's amazing that in 19 starts he's never tried 6f.
01Aug08 Goo 8GF Cl2 Hc,93K 9-2 10/18 6¾L, Fifteen Love[16/1] 8-12 Adrian T Nicholls 97
If we ignore this run, he was out the back in a rough race, made some headway, over a mile.
11Jul08 Nmk 7Gd Cl2 Hc,62K 8-8 3/18 1¼L, Little White Lie[12/1] 9-0 Ahmed Ajtebi 97 Regal Parade prominent, led over 2f out, driven 1f out, headed and not quicken final 100yds
This was the Bunbury Cup, one of the best 7f handicaps of the year, he led at the 5 pole until about 6 1/2 f.
20Jun08 Asc 7Fm Cl2 Hc,37K 8-6 1/28 ½L, Dhaular Dhar[25/1] 9-0 Ahmed Ajtebi 92 Regal Parade raced on stands' side, chased leaders, headway to lead over 1f out, edged right but ran on well
Buckingham Palace at Royal Ascot, led at 6f. Won a top race.
09May08 Chs 8Gd Cl2 Hc,13K 8-8 6/11 1¾L, Celtic Sultan[15/2] 9-4 Adrian T Nicholls 90 Regal Parade towards rear, headway over 3f out, ridden on outside to press leaders 2f out, stayed on same pace towards finish
A mile at Chester...with leaders at 6f.
03May08 Thi 8Gd Cl2 Hc,11K 8-6 2/14 1½L, Extraterrestrial[3/1F] 8-5 P J McDonald 90 Regal Parade in touch, headway to challenge 2f out, soon headed, no extra when slightly hampered well inside final furlong
A mile at Thirsk...challenging at 6f.
Only won on firmish and the AW, but has ran well on soft and by Pivotal so shouldn't mind soft so ground won't be a problem.
Also he goes well fresh! All wins at 7f. Won his first 2. His other two wins were fresh with breaks of at least 7 weeks each time. Come the race he won't have ran for 7 weeks.
Not entered up apart form the AGC. 7lb higher than RA win and only 2lb higher than Bunbury Cup 3rd is not too bad as I believe the 6f will improve him further.
Trained by none other than David Nicholls, who likes this race a little bit and always runs quite a few (if he remembers) :)
probably one of the best posts ever,to highlight one of the hardest races of the yr,and to stick with it - you deserve 100/1 for this post ,well done - fantastic - its what racing / punting is all about.

Thanks for all the kind words lads. I've actually only just got in, having been to louisville watching the Ryder Cup for a week. A shame Europe lost but it was amazing, I'd never experienced anything like it! During the lunch break between foursomes and fourballs on saturday I thought I'd go to the Internet cafe behind the 11th green. Logged onto Sporting Life, checked the Boro score...then muttered to myself **in hell. The guy next to me looked round. Then I checked the racing headlines...Regal Parade leads home Nicholls 1-2...and I went **in get innnnnnnn!!!!! with a big fistpump...everyone looked at me, coz there was actually no golf shots being played at this time! The cost of the full weeks trip is covered, and I've got loads more on top to spend or bank. God bless Regal Parade :) Best thing is most of the winnings are going to come from laddies. :)

Only just seen this thread. Excellent shout Rhinestone. I'm kicking myself a litt e bit as I thought this horse would end up group class when it was owned by Sheikh Mo. Had a big bet on him at Haydock once and left him alone since.

Well the Ayr Gold Cup's here again...but this fella's too good for that now.
Hopefully he'll be going in the Haydock Sprint Cup. He's still improving for his master trainer, and I do believe he has a shout in this if the ground is soft/heavy.
Last year before the AGC he was running some consistent races...this year he's doing it again, maybe even better and in group races this time. Last twice he's been placed in group 2 & 3's on fast ground over 7f (I know this form is well behind the favs)...but we know for deffo his best conditions by far are a strongly run 6f on heavy ground. This is what hopefully he will get at Haydock. He seems to take his racing better now he's older as well.
Finjaans single figures in the betting and RP's 33/1, bettter off at the weights than last time, and will be better suited by a very strongly run 6f on soft. Some of the others at the head of the market are good/fast ground horses and this race could well cut up.
Dandy's a master as we all know and has won group 1's before with ex-handicappers (Continent, Bahamian Pirate etc).
Oh and there's steady rain for the next week and a half, then well over an inch forecast the day before the race....let's hope it rains.
He owes me nothing, and I can't resist having exactly the same bets on him in this as I had last season in the AGC.
Either way if the rain falls that looks like could I can't see him being bigger than 12/14's.
Be lucky.
:)

Yes, the straight course is the newly laid and drained section parallel to the back straight.
Has been Gd to Fm there, when Gd to Sft elsewhere on the course.

Cheers lads, loving it. I've been off the booze recently but couldn't resist last night :) haha. TheBoat I hope you enjoyed ya brandy ;)
Missed this race as well, it must be lucky for me not to watch them. Was playing golf at Whitby, got 2 texts one from TheBoat and my other mate Steve, so knew he'd won, but it messed my game up a bit texting for the next 3-4 holes.
Absolute master performance from Dandy Nicholls, top class.
Think I may try and find a picture of him winning each race, and get them framed together :x

I've had my 3rd ever bet on him @ 60's and 40/1 (not as big a bet as the last twice but to win the same ish), it's way too big a price. 25/1 now still looks a bit big. Yes he's 8yo, but his last 2 runs have been quite decent on unsuitable tracks. This is the first time he's been down to a mark this low since his win 4 years ago, and with the ground going to be bottomless he has to have a squeak. He's also got a claimer booked to get 3 lb more off (won under a claimer 4 years back). He could just retire with a bang here
